How do you relax?

I love to soak in a warm bubblebath but during the summer months soaking in a hot bath just doesn't appeal to me.

In the summer I love to lay on the trampoline in the evenings when it starts to cool off with a bowl of fruit and read my book.

I also love to go horse back riding with DH in the evenings through the apple orchards.

Sounds like you know how to relax. They all sound wonderful. It's so important to take time for these things.

I like to go in the bathtub with a magazine, go for a walk with ipod music, ride my bike, read.

LOL I cook or bake. I also like to do crossword puzzles, cross stitching, reading. In the summer I like to sit on the front porch. Sometimes I just sit on the couch and watch my animals play because they amuse me and make me laugh. I also find doing laundry relaxing. I even find grocery shopping relaxing. I love to walk around the grocery store and look at all the things I would never buy or use. Nobody likes to grocery shop with me. LOL I like to go for long walks when I am able to.

I'm in New England -- in wooded hillside with nearby streams and ponds. After dusk, the mosquitoes get wild. I don't have a screened in porch but wish I did. I would sleep there and listen to whippoorwills and frogs and later in the summer I'd enjoy the crickets. I'd breath in the fragrance of the grass and woodlands a d pond. At dawn and dusk, I'd swoon over theusical flute like call of the wood thrush. For old time sake, I'd light a kerosene or Coleman lantern and playing cards or an attic fragrant board game. No screen porch, but large windows with screen in a woodland home. If you are lucky enough to have a screened in porch (floor too), count yourself lucky and enjoy every second on it. Breath deeply. Totally relax.

I think all of them should be uniform, so that would mean finding the best length for the shortest window and duplicating that throughout. I wouldn't do them at all in that kitchen. You have a great wooded view, and fabric will just accumulate grease and dirt. In the other room, try them at 1/4 to 1/3 of the bay window length and see how that feels on the longer windows. Use some pillow cases or scrap fabric to make a mock one you can move around to see how they look. Are these what you're considering? --Paint living and dining rooms a warm white so they all seem to be one space. (I can't tell what color walls are. Next time, show well lit rooms in daylight.) ----Long, low white shelf/cabinet across the entire TV wall with just TV above since it's so large. This will streamline the room tremendously. No art around TV since screen. Relocate favorite art pieces--not decor items like mirrors or clock--to a gallery wall in dining room--best art works only. Lose the big blue bottle and other "stuff" on the floor. The room needs something call "negative space," open areas that add airiness to a room. It takes awhile to get used to negative space, but it feels calming after a while. --Move corner chair to face the other armchair with floor lamp in that corner to the left of TV. --Get a rectangular coffee table up on legs so its reachable from all seating. These gives you a conversational connection. --Remove side table and table lamp. It's blocking flow, which is stressful. That will make a bigger difference than you think. This way people can move around the couch from either end. --Sorry, but declutter all stuff from dining room as well since it adds to the visual clutter of both rooms. --Put smaller round dining room mirror by front door with a shelf there for keys, etc. Having a funcitonal place for practical items is destressing. --Remove living room mirror entirely. It's is too big and reflecting all the clutter. --No plaid throw hanging off sofa. If you need it to curl up, fold it in a nice basket. --

Summertime relaxing is the best. There's a spot on my front porch that always shady and will always catch a breeze. I love being out there with a chair and a book, just me and the garden wildlife.

I'm another one who loves to be on the porch with a book.

For real, total relaxation, I put a meditation/relaxation CD into my Walkman, put the headphones on, and lie down on my bed. Sometimes I actually stay awake. :-)

Everynight I read for a few hours in my swing on the patio. That is my ultimate relaxation! I have noisy kids all day and I really look forward to my quiet time! I take my coffee out there in the mornings and read a little more before the kids get here too...or water the plants, I love that also.

When we had the trampoline our boys were little and we'd sleep on it when the nights were really hot! They loved it!

I lead a fairly relaxing life. Very little stress.

I am most relaxed when I take my daily nap after work. I love it!

I also
-love to garden
-soak in the tub
-read a book
-go to nurseries
-visit the library
-make cards
-sip my Starbucks mocha
-let my DH drive me around!

To be honest, as I'm getting older (45 now), it's getting harder for me to relax.

At home I read. Going to the rink and ice skating is super relaxing for me. Sometimes when I need a whole "me" day I drive over to the ocean for the day.

curl up with a good book in the basement where it's dim and chilly...gotta have a blanket to feel really comfortable so I want it somewhere chilly...These days I'm in our pool most everyday just thinking and floating...

In the summer - floating on a raft in the pool. It's so relaxing that I don't even think about all those chores I should be doing. There's something about water that seems to erase extraneous thoughts from my mind.

When the weather is colder - sitting by the fire and watching the autumn leaves drop or snow falling.

At odd moments - calling a close friend, reading, visiting the KT, gardening, listening to music.

Sometimes during the work day the best way for me to "chill out" is to sit with one of the cats and just love on them or take a stroll through the gardens and just marvel at what God has created here.

At home nothing beats a bath. My kids laugh because I take a book with me and can be gone for hours. If it is too warm for that I love to lie on my bed under the ceiling fan.

My favorite way is to just sit on the beach at sunset-no talking..just 'reflecting'. Secondly is dancing & listening to live music-it's my 'other world'.

During the non-summer months, I retreat to the bathroom (lock the door!) for a hot bubble bath and a good book or a magazine or two.

I also go to Barnes & Nobles, select a big stack of books/magazines and find a chair in a quiet corner and get lost in my reading. If all else fails, the public library works too.

If I can, a nap on Saturday or Sunday afternoon really help to take the edge off. It's a GREAT weekend if I can get a nap in on both days!

I read books or magazines~~I am back to my yoga classes and they really relax me I go to sleep an hour realier now feels great. I also have meditation music that helps me. Real stress I just curl up next to my DH and listen to his heart beat that works too.

My absolute favorite way to relax is to lay in the hammock with my puppy angel by my side and stare up at the trees. He loves laying in the hammock and will stay with me for hours.
