What Do You Like To Eat With Your....

What do you like to eat with your meatloaf? I like potatoes and carrots seasoned with some onion cooked with mine. I like the ketchup and brown sugar topping and maybe even some strips of bacon too on top. Love green beans with that meal also. What do you like to have with your meatloaf?

I can just peel and eat a mandarin. But navel oranges I slice. I like to cut the orange in half top to bottom, then slice the half into 3-4 slices. So I've got half circle slices 1/3 inch or so thick. That way when I "stretch" the slice to the rind is straight, the little trianglar sections just pop out. That's how I like an orange. I slice one, put it back together in a ball, then in a baggie for lunches (mine and the kids). My 7 y/o loves oranges and is eating 2 a day lately. We bought some very good navels a few days ago. I love citrus season! Loved it when we lived in Floria, too. The trees look so pretty with all those bright orange balls on them, like the whole orchard is decorated for Christmas. ;o)

"Salt, pepper and grated parmesan cheese!" I am going to have to try that...I bet it's tasty! Since oatmeal is so good for you, :) I add: A little milk to thin it a bit A pat of butter or two A tablespoon or two of sugar, white or brown 8 saltine crackers, spread with peanut butter, then broken up with a spoon in the bowl I have eaten it like this for as long as I can remember and I have no idea how I started doing it. So...seems like it isn't so good for me after adding all that. :)

Don't want full kernels of corn in mine. And I don't like it gritty. If it's going to be eaten as a dessert, then put frosting on it and have it sweet like any other cake. If it's a meal accompaniment, then not sweet/cakey with just a light bit of real butter melted on it. I'm not big on cornbread and don't find much good stuff around anyway.

We go out for Thanksgiving and Christmas. There are usually a few relatively decent restaurants that serve dinner on both of those days. Cherryfizz, I agree it's hard when families are gone on the holidays. I have many happy memories of family holidays in years' past - but all of those family members are now deceased. We don't really have any family to celebrate holidays with anymore. So we first tried eating at home by ourselves (it's just my spouse and me) - but for us, it felt even more sad to be home alone than surrounded by other people. So now we go out and eat a nice meal somewhere. It's usually a somewhat overpriced meal because most places charge a premium for meals on those 2 holidays....but we pick places that have good food anyway. Holidays can be hard. There is no right or wrong answer. For us, we're better off going out than sitting home with just the 2 of us.

With a tomato glaze (ketchup and Worchestershire sauce and never, ever any sugar) I like potatoes and carrots roasted together, and any green veggie.

If I want gravy instead, lots of sauteed mushrooms in the gravy, mashed potatoes and any green veggie. I especially like green beans with this. If none of the fresh veggies look good, I go for the frozen peas.

When I make meat loaf, I always make scalloped potatoes. They just seem to go together well. I usually have green beans or other veggies also.

I suppose this'll spark another temper tantrum, but none of that sugary ketchup glop on mine. If so, it gets scraped off and tossed somewhere. Mashed potatoes (boiled will do), gravy and corn. Either toast or a nice soft hot dinner roll to sop up the gravy, and a tossed salad or coleslaw is optional.

Can't eat meat loaf anymore. It leaves me with an after taste all day long.

Love meat loaf, but it just doesn't love me.

Made meat loaf over the weekend, and a macaroni salad that had everything but the kitchen sink in it. People were fishing and I planned for them to make themselvses sandwiches of the meatloaf. Turned out well that way.

Love meatloaf....mine has a sauce of tomato sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, mustard and worcestershire sauce. I love it with mashed potatoes and sweet and sour red cabbage.....and best of all, meatloaf sandwiches the next day!

I'm like Wanda_VA. I tend to make scalloped potatoes when I make meatloaf. They just go together.

I read recently to make meatloaf in an Angel food pan. It cooks way faster, and it's easy to cut.

I always make macaroni and cheese pie (the kind with eggs and milk). My meatloaf has lots of ketchup mixed with brown sugar and a little dry mustard on the top.

Who can EAT THAT STUFF???
Just kidding, well... just kidding a little bit. I was ruined by growing up on poor people meatloaf. I mean poooooooor people meatloaf. If the ground beef mama used had a lean to fat ratio it was probably 50%/50%! I swear what she put into the oven raw was the size of a watermelon and what came out was a plump breakfast sausage. I guess it was basically fat soaked bread crumbs with ketchup on top. Yeah cynic, cheap Winn Dixie ketchup.

But hey, somewhere, somehow the rich folks ate meatloaf with meat in it I guess.

I like mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans with it. Sometimes I put cream of mushroom soup on the meatloaf and other times just ketchup

I think meatloaf is pretty bland without the lucious topping of brown sugar, ketchup, and mustard with a slice of green pepper on top. Don't like any kind of gravy on anything. I do like scalloped potatoes and cole slaw. Yumm.

I love meatlof. I use my MILS recipe. Ground beef (not low fat or angus or anything fancy), seasoned bread crumbs,and egg or 2. Top with ketchup and bacon. Serve with mashed potatoes, gravy, any veg I have on hand-canned corn comes to mind. DH loves it 'cause it tastes just like Mom's. Thanks for asking!

Our family likes meatloaf topped with our favorite BBQ sauce, Sweet Baby Ray's. This sauce has a kick to it that we love. My kids hated meatloaf until I started using this on top. We also have to have mashed potatoes, green beans and corn bread.
