What's for dinner Friday?

I'm early because I'm going to have a little nap when I'm finished.

We both got hair cuts today--badly needed but I wanted to wait until closer to our trip. After that, we stopped at my favorite little restaurant, The Horse and Hound. I had a prime rib sandwich and Harry had sliced ahi tuna on a very large salad with ginger dressing. I brought home half the sandwich so if he's hungry later he can have that. It was delicious!

patti, hope you did not get much rain. Where are you going on your trip? Oh do I need a hair cut & that will be Tue, my hair is long & layered & right now I have too much weight at the bottom.

For dinner hubby had mahi mahi & a salad, for me it was a pork chop & mashed potato.

Glenda, he liked it a lot. But he would've loved those fried chicken thighs. Georgysmom, I won't have to cook tomorrow either. My potatoes was huge and Harry's dinner serves 2 (or in his case 3). Joann, I've never made or eaten potato pancakes that I remember but people sure do love them. I would like the veggies in teriyaki--how did you do that? Lindalou, just be glad Jim's getting rid of something in the frig. But your dinner sounds better. Sue, you really are working way too hard. Hope you can get a break from all that hot canning for a few days this weekend. Really, you need a break, my dear!! Shirley, that sounds so good. Thanks for the milk tip. Wish I 'd read it before dinner. I will do that on the leftover potato tomorrow. I had quite a bad time of it so drank a Kellogg's Special K drink and ate some Kozy Shack tapicoa. Jasdip--wow, what a great price on Napa. That's probably my favorite cabbage. And it's so pretty!! That's a good way to package the peaches because people think you squeeze them to see if they're ripe--wrong--just smell them. I hope there were vents in them. Raven, all good things must come to an end--sigh! At least you know your DH is going to be a happy guy tonight (happy to see you even more than the home-cooked meal).

Oh, Patti, and here I was complaining about my overly busy day and how tired I was............and mine was nothing like yours. Rest well. Glenda, they opened a deli in my small town. I guess it's been there for a while, but I'd not heard of it. My 4 sisters and I went there today. They got chicken salad on a croissant, but I got a roast beef. You got a choice of potato salad or soup, and your choice of coffee, tea or pop. The sandwiches were all huge and none of us could eat more than half. I lucked out. I not only brought home my half sandwich but one of my sisters as well. So my evening meal was free. Shirley

Glenda, those darned love bugs drive me nuts! I noticed one on the car this afternoon. Hope you asked the Ashley Mac to put the spinach tart back on the menu. Did you have the sour cream biscuit?? Jasdip, do you have your heat on at night? Or just enjoy the coolness? We have the worst Chinese food around here. On the other side of town, there must be 5 gigantic Chinese buffets. Wish we had our favorite small Chinese place we had in Dunedin. Such fresh tasting food. Shirley, I'd be right over if I could taste right, darn it. That sounds so good. We're all eating egg salad, seems like. Hey, it's good to share meal ideas, right? Georgysmom, glad you played well today. See practice pays off!! When does the bathroojm makeover start?

I'm so glad you were able to eat a bit of food Patti! That's a great sight to see. We ate really late. I decided I wanted to have a pork picnic shoulder that was on sale for dinner. Boiled with potatoes. So we went to the store to get it and I boiled it for about 3 hours. Some potatoes went in the pot and some carrots later on. We just love ham that way. This is the second time I've done it, the first was with green beans. Hubby and I couldn't get enough tonite! :) I've got all this wonderful ham stock and we don't like a ham and pea type soup. But I'm planning to make cabbage soup tomorrow and I'm definitely going to be using some of the stock in that. I think it will taste great. Also I can see it as a base for potato soup for some yummy flavour. So I'd better be freezing the stock.

Too tired, so popped a frozen pizza in the oven. I hope to do a little cooking tomorrow.

It is pouring here. The fairway is completely under water! Obviously golf was canceled today so I went to the movies with some friends. Panera's for lunch, stopped at
chico's and bought some tops and a pair of white slacks. Then went to see The Great Gatsby. We were all glad we saw it, but not really a must see.

I wanted to try a new hors de' oeuvre...chicken marinated in teriyaki sauce, wrapped in bacon and skewered with pineapple so I did a few of those and stir fried the rest of the chicken with pineapple, served over rice with a teriyaki beef broth and orange rind sauce with some stir fried zucchini, yellow squash, red peppers and onions. I think I will work a little on this combo for an hors de oeuvres. Next time I will use fresh pineapple and marinate it overnight. Think it's going to be nice.

I made a lentil pate for an appetizer - super easy & healthy. For dinner I made seared scallops with cucumber. again very easy & healthy. My hubby & I said it would be equally as good with chicken or shrimp and I am going to add onions & mushrooms the next time around - we LOVE onions & mushrooms. We also had a salad.
