Friend and I ventured to Joel's for good ole southern cooking:

I had hamburger steak, fried cabbage, green bean casserole

Friend had beef tips over rice, fried okra and turnip greens.

They had blackberry cobbler, and I would have loved some, but we were both too full to indulge :o(

I made hot beef sandwiches out of the last of the roast beef. We love those, with peas on top, and oven-roasted potatoes.

I ran a lot of errands today as the weather is to turn very hot, starting tomorrow. Decided to use the oven one last time before the upcoming heat wave, and made a pizza. Added a side dish of raw vegetables and fruit.

jasdip, I love hot roast beef sandwiches. I've never heard of putting peas on top, but it sounds good.

Thanks, everybody. Our carpet is a very light off-white and really hard to keep clean. Stanley Steamer has to come out several times of year to keep it looking good. I have a before picture and will take an after and try to figure out how to post them.

Glenda, I would've had your lunch and Harry would've had your friends (and the cobbler). LOL!

Jas, I haven't had a roast beef sandwich for so long. I like to put the sliced beef over plain old white bread and put gravy all over the top of it. Peas would be an interesting addition.

Hey, Nicole. Your dinner sounds really good. What do you put in your Italian shepherd's pie? I need to experiment more but, frankly, I have little or no imagination. Sometimes I read what people are eating and think, "Dang, why didn't I think of that?" Well, I know why!!!

Only you (and I mean this as a sincere compliment) would have a pizza and healthify it by having veggies and fruit with it. Good for you.

I brought pan fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy homd for DH. I don't know yet what I will have.

Patti....

1 lb ground beef or turkey or pork
3/4 lb grated motzarella cheese
1/2 cup tomato sauce
2.5 cups mashed potatoes lightly salted(instant is fine)

thyme
dash dried basil
dash garlic powder
1/2 tsp white sugar
seasoning salt to taste

I browned off a pound of ground turkey. Added Thyme & basil, 1/4 cup tomato sauce, seasoning salt. Patted into a pie dish. Then a layer of motzarella cheese(3/4 lb), then mashed potatoes, then 1/4 cup tomato sauce with basil/thyme/garlic powder/dash of sugar....on top.

You can bake it to heat it and melt the cheese, microwave individual servings....

Thanks for the compliment, jasdip. It just sounded good, plus I hadn't had enough vegetables and fruit today. I got strawberries at the $ General store and they are sooooo good.

Today was another golf tournament. This time at an away course. Our team didn't win anything but I thought we played well and it was a beautiful course and a beautiful day! It's going to start getting hot tomorrow so we really enjoyed today. Getting up early and having to be at the golf course at 7:15 - 7:30 is starting to make me tired. We had BLT's tonight. We sat on the porch and it was very refreshing.

Shirley, Jasdip is so right. I'm always in awe how you can make such healthy meals. Girl, you sure have lots of will power. ;-) Oh--it will take two days from start to finish.

Bengardening, you have one lucky husband. After smelling good food cooking, it kind of turns my appetite off. I feel like I've already eaten. Same with baking cookies. By the time I'm done baking them, I feel like I've eaten about a dozen of them (well, maybe I have in the form of cookie dough).

Thanks for the recipe, Nicole. I copied/pasted for the next time I have leftover potatoes. I like the sound of it--but I may leave out the sugar unless I really need it.
