What 'find a friend' website is REALLY free?

I have been searching all the sites that says they are "free" to search for a long lost neighbor I would like to contact. I found her name and the city she is in now but you have to pay to get the address, phone or email address.

Also, my husband is a writer and he is trying to locate some of the people he knew when he was in the Air Force. If you don't know for sure if the name that comes up is the person you are looking for, it can get very expensive.

I am not looking for background checks or anything like that. I only want a simple email address to connect with friends I haven't communicated with in years and years.

Where can I look to get this info without having to pay for it? BTW, I doubt that my friend is on Facebook or Myspace etc. we are both in our 70's.

If you found the city, why don't you just try looking your friend up in the White pages Or call information?

You might be surprised who you will find on facebook. Does she have children? On facebook, you can send a message to someone and ask if they could be possibly related. Explain the circumstances and you may just find her. Have you tried 411.com?

I wonder if anyone has noticed that not a single match has been made on this thread between a person with extra dirt and a person who needs it who are both close to each other. Not surprising. I suggest using your local Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, etc. or the matching sites linked in this thread.

Once again I got absorbed in a link and forgot to come back and post. I read this the other day and really like the idea and am going to participate. It does help a bit that the weather has been a bit nicer to sit out with the binoculars [once I found them]. I really like how the list has links to each bird that includes their song. That helped me decide between a couple of the birds I see on a regular basis. Thanks Suzy. It might snow a bit tomorrow and actually that does also bring out some birds I might not see otherwise.

It does take a while to go through every pattern. I think Berocco.com lets you see many at a time. Not sure where else. I spent about 30 mins., the other night going through patterns on different sites.

Hi perdita, I did look up in the online white pages but you still have to pay. I don't have a hard copy phone directory because I am in another state. Plus, her phone is unlisted.
I would write her or email her but don't have the address.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try to wade through Facebook and see if I can find anything. I must be socially challenged because I haven't signed up for any of the chat sites etc. I thought it was basically for teenyboppers.

Included in my World Deluxe membership at Amazon.com is something called Long Lost People. If you e-mail me through my page here at the KT, I'll do a search and e-mail the results to you.

Please provide the full name, approximate age, and what state you think the person may be in.

I always use switchboard.com to find addresses and phone numbers for people, and for businesses. No charge whatsoever.

You've already gotten a lot of help, but another option you can use is Google info. It's free. Dial 800-4664411. It'll ask for city and state and a name/biz etc. Did you try to just google her on the internet too? That might work.
