What's for dinner Friday?

Rain on and off most of the day. Finally seeing the sun now. It was nice to read Ginger's post. I really enjoy her recipes.

Tonight we're having country fried steak with white gravy (gee, I wonder where I got that idea, Glenda) with green beans and fruit of some kind. Probably pears.

Hope you are looking forward to a nice weekend. What's for dinner tonight?

Treated dear friend for lunch, for her upcoming weekend 49th birthday!

Meal was preordered for our liking: Fresh garden salad, then tomato pie with freshly herbed warm bread. She had their raspberry tea and me, the usual, water.
Owner treated us to desserts: Friend had strawberry shorcake parfait and I had an awesome chocolate chip scone with chocolate gravy and fresh whipped cream on the side.

After lunch, went to her home to see her son's graduation pictures. He's going to TCU

I also wish more restaurants would offer half portions or something similar. I'm not sure about dinner yet. It's 8pm & DH is working an hour & a half away. He'll probably end up grabbing something on the way home. In that case, I'll just make myself a sandwich & have some fruit & yogurt. I have enough stuffed pepper mix to make a batch tonight, but I've had a headache for several hours & don't really feel like doing that. It's actually supposed to be sunny here tomorrow. I'm trying to get some household things done in spite of the headache so I can spend some time at the pool tomorrow.

I'm so glad you were able to eat a bit of food Patti! That's a great sight to see. We ate really late. I decided I wanted to have a pork picnic shoulder that was on sale for dinner. Boiled with potatoes. So we went to the store to get it and I boiled it for about 3 hours. Some potatoes went in the pot and some carrots later on. We just love ham that way. This is the second time I've done it, the first was with green beans. Hubby and I couldn't get enough tonite! :) I've got all this wonderful ham stock and we don't like a ham and pea type soup. But I'm planning to make cabbage soup tomorrow and I'm definitely going to be using some of the stock in that. I think it will taste great. Also I can see it as a base for potato soup for some yummy flavour. So I'd better be freezing the stock.

Bigack, beans and cornbread is one of my favorite meals. Sometimes I make the bread-like dumplings and pour the beans over a big ole dumpling. So good! Mary, I sure hope you weren't out there helping clean up the damage from last night. Not sure how your PT would feel about that. Walnutcreek, when I can't decide, sometimes I make an fried egg sandwich. Fast, easy cleanup and it fills the tummy. Hounds, it sure sounds good. I saw a recipe today on pinterest for a soup similar only it had smoked sausage and white beans with the greens. Enjoy! Matti, now see. Last night you were dreading WW and it went well. Congratulations! I know how hard it is to lose even 5 pounds.

I picked up some giant potatoes at the farm store, tonight I will bake those and have loaded baked potatoes.

Oh my goodness, we got the needed rain, but it rained all day, and windy. A typical early spring day.
We did a few errands, and got soaked. Just made some little wraps with chicken, lettuce, salsa and cheese and sour cream.
They were good, now I'm having my tea.

Another simple/plain meal for me, but I like it. I made home fries and when they were done, I put a beaten egg over top. I had that with half a slice of whole grain bread, and a cup of great northern beans.

We too had off/on rain here in Ohio today. It had been 3 wks since we had any rain, so we needed what we got. It's still an overcast and threatening sky.

Fajita-rubbed grilled chicken on the George Foreman, with grilled mixed veggies (red pepper, cauliflower, mushrooms, onions). YUM!

Lunch was out with the 3 girls. I had the boneless pork chop meal with mashed potatoes, brown gravy, roll and a salad. Water to drink. This evening, I had tomato soup and a toasted cheese sandwich and iced tea. Busy, busy day again.

I fixed BIG morell sausages on wheat buns from the bakery. Left over carrot cake for dessert.

Wife and daughter #2 prepared the ingredients for make your own soft tacos. Not everyone likes the same "fixins" on their taco, so you build your own. Daughter #1 on a whim took off to Myrtle Beach to celebrate their 21st wedding anniversary.

Chicken mushroom barley soup. I like making it in the pressure cooker so it takes less than 30 minutes!
