I agree with McMann, Larry is a jerk and Buffy deserves better. I hope she can stay safe and well under the circumstances; she's sure lucky to have you in her corner. And kudos to your dear vet.

really takes a lot B*lls for him to go and get her without you knowing. I would be SUPER pi**ed.
You handled it very good and I am hoping that he continues with the meds for Buffy also that you

I'm sure you are beyond frustration with Larry.....GRRRRRRR! Keep doing what you're doing by keeping your cool. Buffy knows where she belongs and that is with you.

I cant believe that man had the nerve to do that,and not even tell you,saving you a trip.There is a special place in heaven for you Trin.That dog is lucky to have you.I hope Larry will let her stay w/during the day,and I am glad he stepped up to the plate and offered you money.

I am still angry with Larry, but I did keep my cool. I am pretty laid back by nature, but he was really pushing it.
When it comes to animals and children and cancer, you just do not cross me. Sorry.
All in all it is a happy ending, and I know that Buff is good to go. So my heart can rest at ease.

My question is why did he pick Buffy up? I don't like this situation because he is her legal owner. Keep a very close eye on Larry and how he cares for Buffy. Document any neglect that you notice in the future. If Larry doesn't take Buffy to the vet for follow up visits that is neglect. If he doesn't take good care of the dog tell him he needs to sign Buffy over to you. This is a sticky situation. Maybe you can get some advice from your local shelter or animal control.

It's almost like he paid you off to leave them alone. Hopefully he won't resist you keeping her days. I'm curious to see if he lets her roam tomorrow.

But you've done your part and it sounds like she doesn't need further treatment. Just TLC from now on. Now that he sees that someone cares he may change and care for her.

I have no idea why he went and picked her up. He came home from work early, and I thought maybe he was not feeling well. I never thought he would pick her up. I had called not much earlier to make sure she was ready for me to come get her. The fact is, he gave me enough to cover her vet bills and did not even know it. Thank god for Dog Gil, he will be getting a really nice card in the mail. If anyone would also like to tell him what a trooper he is please mail him a card or note.

Well, that was unexpected, wasn't it? When he picked Buffy up, he probably asked what the bill would be. He and the vet must have discussed it because Larry told the vet you would pay it. So I'm thinking he gave you $40, knowing the bill was $35, and the extra $5 was for what you had already treated her with. So now he feels no obligation to you.

Larry sounds a little odd. Have you noticed before that he is a little quirky? lol

Keep us posted on any other "chapters" to this story. It has been interesting. I'll be looking for the new Buffy tomorrow.

Wonder why he didn't just pay the Vet? I really hope this works out to where YOU have Buffy more than Larry does! I don't even know the guy..and I don't trust him!

I would have been like Country Bumkin and throttled the jerk !! I am not sure I could have kept my cool in that situation. But at the same token, it is best that you handled it like you did. Buffy does not need animosity between you and Larry right now. She needs to feel the love. And I commend you for your heroic deeds.

I will be sending a card to the vet and staff for what they have done for Buffy.

Trin, the title of your thread scared me. I'm so glad you reacted to Larry the way you did. Otherwise he could cause a problem with you seeing little Buffy. If it had been me I probably would have done the same thing for the sake of the dog, but my heart would have been harboring some evil deeds.

The title made my blood boil. I feel like Bumpkin does about the whole thing, but I do give you credit for keeping your cool. Not sure I could have. And I would have had to ask Larry "why" he picked up the dog.

I tend to think like country bumpkin... You are an angel- I hope Larry gives her to you after time goes by. Would he keep her locked in the house on purpose just so you could not care for her during the day? I too, worry about this 'man'.

Larry is an odd one for sure. But he is not off of his rocker I promise, just a bit of a recluse. He did not ask about the bill at the vet, because I asked when I went in. He did not ask, and they did not tell. I am $5.00 richer, but feel that I am some what entitled to the extra money.
I felt a bit guilty, but I have spent a lot of time, worry and money on Buff over the years, but even at that, it was not the money, but the principle.
Buffy is now home, next door, and I am sure will be home here tomorrow.
I am still unsure of why he went and picked her up. And took off work early to do so. Guilt? We will probably never know, but what is important, is that Buff is well, and groomed and home. It is a crazy world out there sometimes.
I will post a picture tomorrow when she comes here in the morning.
Again, thank you all for your love and concern. I know this is just a dog, but this little gal has a soft spot in my heart. Without your help and pushing...I probably might not have had the guts to do what I did. And for that I will always be grateful.

No offense, but I know why he picked her up, it was his dog, you took it and you are on his property, laying down the law, your law to him. If I were him you wouldn't see the dog again, it's his dog. Doesn't anyone see the legal ramification of this but me?

I do hope you get the dog during the day sounds like he needs someone to spend time with him.

Yes, stargazzer, I do see the legal ramifications. If Trinity and the vet told authorities what shape that dog was in Larry would be arrested for animal neglect.

Paula - That was exactly my thought. Animal neglect/cruelty is a huge issue and he's lucky that Trinity took the action she did, rather than call the authorities.

That vet bill sounds great. My vet charges over $50 just for grooming. My dog Molly goes once a month for a trim, ear cleaning and nail cutting. My vet doesn't actually do the grooming. Her groomer works out of the vets office.

Hi Trin, just had a thought about Buffy without much of a coat right now. Hope she'll have plenty of shade cause her skin could easily burn til she can grow out her coat again, plus it might be easier for her to become overheated.

I know, I'm a worrier.

I bet Buffy slept so much better last night..you, too. :)
