Harry and Sam playing

Someone asked on "Sam's half-birthday" thread is the dogs are getting along. Well, yes, and no. Sam is so high energy and sometimes Harry just wants to hang out and be the only dog. They do truly like each other at least 99% of the time.

Harry chasing Sam, end of May.

Sam chasing Harry, late March.

Hunting voles around the lilac bush, late May.

The nest box to the right has Tree Swallows in it. It's on our property, but outside the back yard fence, for obvious reasons.

The little wren house is supposed to be "decorative." It's on a 4' tall maple stump. I'm going to "bonsai" the thin branches into a large circle/ring around the nest box.

Yesterday there was a male wren busily filling it with sticks. I finally had to remove the front panel and scatter his twigs on the other side of the yard to encourage him to nest further away from the TSs. Now he's building in an appropriate box on the other side of our house. The TSs and the PMs eggs will now be safe from the wrens' bad habit of pinning eggs, and his nest will be safe from the dogs.

Looking "noble and elegant," as expected of good Deutsch Drahthaars, late May. Sam is cute, but Harry is my heart.

Watching me photograph the crabapple tree, late May. Wes made the potting bench, behind the garage, while we were in California. I have bricks under each leg to keep them out of contact with the soil. It's about 9 years old and still tight, sturdy, and serviceable.

Harry makes a snack out of Sam. It's all posturing, LOL.

The crabapple tree, and a larger white one in the far background.

The 10x12 dog pen behind Sam will become a two-sided compost bin later. We use it for the dogs when they are bumper training. One stays in the pen, the other trains, and then they switch places. Sam likes it. Harry doesn't. They're never in there more than 15-30 minutes.
