Well, it's mixed, to say the least. Had a long eye examination this morning, including the one that checks how the brain is receiving the sight message, etc. It was very inconclusive as my sight was normal, and the brain test showed normal. (As you can see, I forgot the names of the tests!)Dr. sent all the results to my doctor and I got in there around noon. Had an EKG, along with a usual heart checking. She found an uneven heartbeat (I've had it forever), atrial fibrillation. She is putting me on coumedin, and I have a bunch of tests at the hospital on Friday, inclulding CT scan, cardio, and carotid evaluation. The whole thing is enough to make me pretty nervous, but she was quite reassuring. My sister, who is 12 years younger than me, had a mild stroke a year ago, but she is not letting it get her down....she is a hiker, kayaker, skiier, and has always been very healthy. So I shall follow her in that outlook. I'll let you know what Friday's tests tell, but thank you so very much for caring.

Occasionally a newly planted bamboo will put out skinny new shoots that are called whip shoots. Sometimes these are just above the ground but usually they will bend up. They are, technically, shoots, but they are not the kind of mature shoots you will see after the bamboo gets established. At any rate, it sounds like it's happy with the situation!

I have a goldendoodle and a week in a kennel was all it took for him to get horrible matts. I agree that grooming to prevent matts is the best but let's face it, matts happen! My dog had to be shaved. I wasn't going to put him through the stress and pain of a massive de-matting. I'll look for the Cowboy Magic to use as his fur grows out again. Thanks again!

You guys are hilarious!! Calliope, I can't believe he didn't notice your hair!! My dh also buys land at the tax sale auctions. There is one piece the state is looking at and he could make a good profit, so I had to eat my words on that purchase, too. No, I didn't break the bank or have to use the mortgage payment to buy the machine. I'm just not used to buying something that expensive without discussing it with him first. (We're both good about doing that.) Well, I still haven't told him yet. I went out with the girls last night so, I only saw him for about an hour and really didn't think the time was right. My older machine is an embroidery machine and the new one is a straight stitch quilting machine, so I really can't swap them out. That is one reason I bought this machine. I can't do any sewing while the older machine is doing it's embroidery (I've pointed this out to him numerous times, LOL!!). I don't have it hidden, but he isn't the most observant person either (it's sitting on the floor with a cover on it and he's walked by it at least a dozen times). But when I set it up, I think it will be obvious because I will have to set up a separate table for it. I think I'll do that this afternoon and see what he says when he gets home. I'd really like to start sewing on it! (((Taking a deep breath))) I'll update you tomorrow (or late this evening?) Thanks for all the laughs, this has been a fun thread.

Welcome to hostadom. Those edges are not yellow. That is not Abba Dabba Do. Cream isn't yellow in hosta terms. If you follow Bkay's links to the Hosta Library and select "A" to get the list you will see any number of photos of what the plant should look like. It starts out all green then the yellow margins develop. Be sure to learn everything you possibly can about HVX. There are THOUSANDS of hostas, and not all are named and registered. So many look alike, especially in young plants. ID-ing them is often difficult at first because you aren't seeing all the mature characteristics. They have different growth habits and flowers and quirks. But stick around and as the weather warms in the heartland, there's bound to be someone who has one that looks just like yours and can help with the ID. Did the box or bag even give a suggestion as to what they might be? If they were really cheap they might just be culled tc's with no name. AND, if you don't find out afterall, you can just name them Tom Dick and Harry in your own garden (but not to sell). ;-) -Babka

Thanks for that nice report. Though I don't know any of you KT'ers personally, it's amazing how much I tend to think about y'all when something like this is going on. Yes, I guess we CARE about others here...and that's a GOOG THING!

Good to know that you are getting excellent care, I agree with the doctors that type of problem is one that should be an emergency room visit asap.
Hopefully all will be well for you. Positive thoughts for you.
