A beautiful salmon filet going on the grill with a basket of root veggies. Homemade Hollandaise for my salmon.

Last night I made Lemony shrimp ditalini salad for tonight. So glad I don't have to think about dinner today. Played golf and now I'm tired.

Wow we are all going the fish and shrimp route We are having, Salmon patties,, mashed potatoes, and peas for dinner. Tony likes having fish on Fridays..nope he wasn't raised by an old school Catholic....lol

Good afternoon, almost evening! It was a little cool and windy here today, with rain early this morning. Everything is glistening and green. So pretty. I had my first official workout today. I managed to do all the machines twice and lightly jogged in place after every 2 machines. I have to admit that I had to pop some tylenol and take a nap late this afternoon because I did feel the burn and was achy and tired. But, it was fun, and I'll definitely return tomorrow for a light workout. Hubby has a sleep study tonight way over in Houston, so I'll be on my own here tonight. I haven't spent many nights here alone, and it's been since Thanksgiving so I'm a little nervous. These lovely woods start feeling very dark and lonely when it's just Lucky pup and me. QOD: I think I'd like to return as Sweetpea because that little one leads a beautiful life on Suzanne's farm! Jen, so glad to see you posting and that y'all were safe even though you were frightened. BJ, reading about your windows getting washed made me look hard at mine, and I know that I'll be getting around to them sometime very soon. I hadn't realized how rain-spotted they'd gotten until I really looked. McPeg, that washstand has such good bare bones. Can't wait to see the finished product! I'm happy for you to be getting new furniture! This weekend, we're getting a new propane tank for our grill, and I'm thawing out chicken and steaks to rub down and grill for next week's meals. There's just nothing better than grilled meat - and I love the smell of it cooking on the grill. Hope everyone has a restful weekend!

Hi, everyone. Sorry I haven't been checking in. My husband has a medical issue and I have been submerged in that. I think I mentioned a few weeks ago he had blurred vision and went to both opthalmologist and primary care physicians, who determined it was due to his diabetic condition. Prescriptions were adjusted, and eye drops prescribed. He's been going back for follow ups, and it was decided to schedule some MRI's, just to be safe. A small "enhancement" on is cerebellum showed up. He met with a local neurosurgeon who said he was puzzled as to what it could be. That it could be a tumor, or a cyst, or something he was born with. We sent the scans to my husband's uncle in Florida, who is a retired neurosurgeon, and he too, couldn't tell, due to the non-contrast imaging. He did say he was concerned because the enhancement appeared round, which is how tumors show up (even though the two local doctors said they didn't think it was a tumor.) It was decided that he see a neurosurgeon at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, which is better equipped to handle this sort of thing, so we see a doctor there on Tuesday. I would appreciate prayers that this is nothing serious and/or that the neurosurgeon can easily take care of whatever it is. I am one of those who instead of losing their appetite, will eat the house if possible, when I get stressed, so I've got to get a grip on the situation. I hope I have good/promising news to report next week. Hugs to all who need them, I could use one about now.

Oh Glenda I love California Kitchen pizza!I have not been to one since we moved here though I need to find one. Patti they only sell the Johnsoville brat patties at walmart for now according to their website, I have no idea why. The beef ribs last night, they ended up being much fattier than I thought so that was not good, the flavor was great and my husband ate a plate full but I do not like that fatty taste and I could taste that. Had it not been for that it would have been great. The bbq sauce I used was Sweet Baby Ray's which is my fave and I just added some Frenches mustard to it for the twang and put a chopped up purple onion in there with it. I started it on high for about an hour and a half then turned to low for about 4 hrs. I would do it again.

Glad to hear you got the new stove! Two ovens--that's great--and just in time for Thanksgiving dinner too! ;o) I bet you will be thinking up all kinds of things to bake now. ;o) Anj, you just remember that it is YOUR home and you can decorate it any way you want to. I know you've had lots of compliments on how comfortable and homey it feels. If you have too many goodies waiting for projects, just box up a few and label the box--or put pics of the items on it-and stash it in that big attic of yours or in the garage. You'll get to it all eventually. Besides, going to the TS to hunt for treasures for painting or gifting to others is your "therapy and relaxation". You are always doing things for everyone else, you deserve to be nice to yourself too. Yes, the same friend. The strong winds tore shingles off the corner of her roof. It will need to be fixed before the winter rains come. She gets so nervous about paperwork and expenses. I helped her fill out the papers and get them in the mail, and then I treated her to lunch. She's going to be 76 in February, but in many ways she seems much older. Her daughter called me wanting me to encourage her to sell her mobile home so she can move to Oregon with them. Wouldn't you know, prices are really down now so not the best time to sell. I asked her if she didn't think it would be nice to not have to worry about leaking roofs, insurance, and trying to get places without a car. She said yes, but it's cold up there and she would miss being in her own place with all her things. I think her daughter should come down to help get her going on it all. Of course, her daughter has only been to see her once in ten years! I'm glad you've got your painting groove on again! ;o) Did you decide if you are doing the twelve days gifts this year? If so, I know you will be busy getting things ready for that. I've still got one design I'd like to paint for Halloween, but haven't picked a surface for it yet. Maybe I'll work on it a bit after I get back from lunch/shopping with my neighbor ladies tomorrow. Guess what I did today? I sewed three little outfits for GD's barbie type dolls! Haven't sewed in a long time, in fact the last time I tried, I had to take the machine in for cleaning and adjustments. These turned out okay, I used velcro for the fasteners, so that worked out really well. Not worth the time though--I'm such an amatuer that it took me about four hours! ;o( Hope she will like them, however she even liked the ones I just tied on them for her. She wants long dresses and does not like their hair tied back--isn't that too funny? Such an opinionated little gal. LOL Okay, I'm off to read the holiday forum. TTYL Luvs

I've been growing my hair out for the past year trying to see if I would like long hair. It's shoulder length, but the sides and bangs are always in my face.

Anyway I finally got sick of it enough to call my stylist yesterday and today I got it all cut off. I've had short hair all my life, and now I have short hair again. The top isn't the 2" length that it usually is, it's a little longer on the top.

Did some other errands and my mind was a complete blank. I had some asparagus that needed to be used up so I cooked asparagus and orzo pasta and mixed in parmesan and some cream. A hotdog as well.

Last night I made tortellini, and then made a garlic cream sauce and used two yellow squash, several sugar snap peas, and the last three asparagus all from our garden.

A big mac from McDonald's as it is high in calories and I have to gain weight. I'm to consume 1800 calories a day. You don't know how hard this is for me. I'm not used to eating this much and never had to count calories, but I am down to 87 pounds and the doctor insists I eat this much.

I had other choices on hand but decided to have breakfast foods instead.........sausage, eggs and toast. It just seemed right for me tonight.

PIZZA! (also a breakfast food). One of the less than tasty store brands I probably won't buy again. Smother it with hot sauce.

Linda, I am so sorry that you're having to go through this. I hope that your doctor has given you some good ideas for calorie loaded foods and meal plans.

Do you keep frozen yogurt or ice cream around the house? Gosh, I hope that there are some high calorie foods that you love. I could eat cheesy, saucy pasta dishes twice a day, lol. All my best to you.

Speaking of fattening,....we're going out to our nearby Mexican restaurant shortly. Gotta watch Jeopardy, first, lol.

Thanks Rhizo. I've never been a big eater and have maintained a weight of between 95-100 pounds all my life until recently when I dropped from 97 to 87. I'm only 4 ft. 9 inches tall. Doctor put me through every test he and I could possibly think of: thyroid, colonoscopy, endoscopy, cystoscopy, CAT scan, bloodwork, urinalysis and everything came back normal. He of course was wanting to rule out cancer, but I knew I didn't have any cancer. He put me on an appetite stimulus pill. Not sure it did anything but I started eating everything I could think of that that might be high calorie, high fat and I did gain back the 10 pounds. However I didn't keep it up and lost the weight again. He just did a Metabolism rate test on me and it determined that I needed 1300 calories a day, but in order to gain any weight, I need 1800 calories a day according to the dietician he had me go see. I'm not really an icecream eater or yogurt. I love cheese and pasta and chocolates. I'm drinking Ensure, eating a lot of nuts, raw veggies dipped in Ranch which is the highest dressing in calories. I google everything to find the number of calories in each item and am keeping a daily log. I'm just not used to doing this and am to the point of beginning to hate eating. Dietician said to eat every 2-3 hours. I feel like I can't leave the house....have to eat. Can't get anything done...have to stop to eat. Very frustrating.

Lindaohnowga, good luck with your eating program. I am 4'9" tall also, but I can't seem to lose the weight. I know how important it is to maintain or lose weight at our height because every pound makes a difference, or so it seems.

Rose, wouldn't it be nice if you could give me a few of the pounds you need to lose and I need to gain? Too bad that can't be done.

I used to be 4 ft. 11 inches but with age I have shrunk. If I shrink much more I may just disappear. LOL
