Still cleaning house, my best friend since sixth grade is coming for a three-day visit Saturday. I'm pretty much on schedule. But I have a miserable cold and I lost my voice. Doctor gave me a prescription for an antibiotic,Zithromax. Take one pill a day for five days. I should feel better by Sunday. Sue arrives Saturday.

I am right there with you Stacy. My DH has gone fishing with his dad for the week, and my cell phone is dead. I left my charger at a friends house 100 miles away, so she has mailed it to me...should be here today or tomorrow.
It is sooo quiet here. I need to go to the store and post office, bank, and get my hair cut, but I am stalling because it is so hot out. Probably close to 100 by now.

Hey Trin yeah our high here is 101 today....ackkkkk and since I got *burnt* yesterday I am avoiding the sun today...when I went out before noon just to go to the mulch pile scoop it in the mule and then the new flower bed I was already sweating.....I guess I am going to make my run and think I will splurge on a "good" bottle of wine will check back in.....now my cell I could do with out but I do like to stay in contact iwth the kids and dh....everyone else not so much....other then my sister....LOL Stacy

It is hot here. I have been staying inside sewing a baby quilt for a cousin. I do have to go out later and get something for dinner. DS mowed my lawn for me this morning and I promised him I would cook him a dinner. He is volunteering at church this afternoon working on the pew respacing.
This evening I am going to an outdoor band concert.

I had quite a few radishes and beans, plus multitudes of squash and tomatoes come up volunteer in my garden from last year ... when Conrad the landlord tilled last week, I begged him to skip some of the tomatoes, lest I not have enough. He said that there were plenty.

I transplanted quite a few into rows on the night before last, just before dark, and watered them.

Didn't go out early yesterday to water them, did some cultivating and weeding in the other garden, some of them were looking rather peaked when I arrived a while before lunch on that hot day.

Watered them, stuck some boxes over a few to shade them and they perked up some. As I weeded the cantaloupe, put some lamb's quarters - a full tray that in which tomatoes come to the stores - and was sad that there appear to be no cantaloupe sprouted in half of the row.

Friend from the investment group called to say to be at his place at five to six to go to the meeting, and he'd like some straw for his garden, so I took him two main bales and a couple of small ones ... he was surprised that I could get all four into my little car (and without one in the front seat) and I had some other things, plus the tray of greens to share ... I said that when one packs for overseas, the rules deal with not just weight, but volume, as well.

We picked up the gal who lives near him on the way to the meeting, and did some shopping along the way - I got some cashews and some choc. chips to pass around, which I did ... but forgot the greens, sitting in the corner, until after the break-up and many had left. One guy took some at the after-meeting in the coffee shop.

I was to go out to lunch today, had asked a friend who was busy, and called another a couple of times, and had thought to ask Lori en route last night whether she'd like to go ... but forgot that, too.

This morning I did some hoeing, watered the tomatoes - I think that all but possibly a couple will survive, and cleaned the car (straw in a car is messy), as I planned to visit Lori's house to see whether she might be interested to share lunch.

There's a group at the church that I attended as a child that used to be called the "Senior Men's Coffee Hour" that meets Thursdays through fall, winter and spring. Then they changed their name to "ROMEO"s - Retired Old Men Eating Out, and my suggestion that, as we are mainly drinking, it should be called "ROMDO" - Retired Old Men Drinking Out went over like a ton of lead bricks. Could it be the old Methodist heritage, which that congregation had been prior to the formation of The United Church of Canada in 1925, four years before my birth? Surely not.

Anyway, at their final meeting in the spring, they all invite their wives out for lunch at a nearby restaurant, and today noon was the day.

Last night when we arrived at Lori's door, I ran to ring her bell, then ran back to the car to move some of my stuff from the front to the back seat ... and she teased me about being like a kid that rings one's bell and runs away.

This morning, when I rang Lori's bell ... no answer. Guess she was away (or working - she works part-time ... and makes money on the stock market).

The lunch was lovely - I had pickerel - and some teased me about the lack of a companion.

So - now I'm on the internet, talking to you guys ... and waiting for my ten-minute warning dialogue box to show up ... it did, while I'd been typing this, and this is the second time of typing it.

So, I'll have to shut up.

Imagine that.

I was going to pick black raspberries, but got a phone call from Cheryl and ended up going to the vet's in Pendleton so she could get heart worm stuff for her new puppy. On the way home we decided to go to another town and visit my Mother in the nursing home and take the dogs with us so she could see them. We hadn't had lunch so we ended up going to KFC. Sat in the car and ate finally got home and it was after 3. Temperature was reading 95!

So that has been my day, didn't get much at all done!

Getting things priced, put out in the driveway and ready for the neighbor kids to come pick it all up with their truck for a yard sale with my dear neighbor this weekend. Not fun at our ages in this heat. We are beat.

I went and got some perennials for 50% off and am soaking the poor bone dry things. Going to try and plant after supper at the rental house. I am tired of weeds in the flower beds!
I got Indian Blanket Flower (6 or 7) a couple Red Cascade Rockcress??? Dunno what that one will do and they look tough so I don't know if they will make it or not. Pciked up 5 or 6 Coreopsis,Early Sunrise and hot pink Aster's.

I am really hoping to talk DH into putting some of the free mulch down that the city is giving away once everything is planted...got to have a few days to talk him into it first! lol

Other than that, work and cooking is all I've done.

wow youve all been busy! so many of you have gardens, your so lucky. i worked in the blazing hot sun too, and its very humid here, getting enough logs out to draw tomorrow, hot hot hot. cant imagine how my dad feels..hes 72! then had to take a cool shower, wow i smell so much better lol.then ill go up to eat dinner with them and come home and have an icy cold one! i swear it feels like a friday. we have storm warnings here, which means i have to close all my windows and turn off the laptop! have a good night all. happy anniversary stacy.

I carried cat litter home on the bus and then cleaned out the box. The rest of the day I'm cleaning and just laying around checking the internet.
Does that sound exciting to you? I'm not bored though, just happy to be home and not flying.

wow everyone has been busy you are sooo right logger it has felt like a friday to me all day....anyways probably cuz i have my anniversary and I wanted to celebrate...instead i get to sit alone and then have DH rub aloe on my bum LOL...
Acutally I went to town to the bank visited several of my old customers then went to walmart my tahoe started acting up bad again...called DH he said take it by the shop so I did....of course they are great in this small town got me right in...but we tried to just do like a cleaning of all the stuff and that is not the problem.....so they will order the part tomorrow....after today being 160...the part next is 350...then labor...but he said only a hour labor and this is a indepent so won't be like at the dealer ship....but then I get home and Brian says we are moving to Stroud sunday with the 5th wheel....which means we have to take his truck in to the same place tomorrow to get the a/c fixed and something oh a u joint that is going out....sooooo I get to do that and then have to be at the CPA...at 11....haven't medtioned that problem with the IRS to the KT.....til I talk to the CPA tomorrow...but that could be lots of dollars...I pray not....but anyways...i have a cobbler int he oven his boss sent home 4 super looking steaks yesterday so having those...and zucckni (lol at my spelling on that) and corn on the cob for dinner.......Stacy

Well, yes, I was a little bored today, but I stopped procrastinating and scheduled my car for preventive maintence to get it ready for a trip a month away. It has 94,500 miles on it and its time to replace the timing belt. It is running great, gets good fuel mileage, so I'll keep it for another year or two.

I did entertain the idea of doing most of the work myself, but after I surveyed the job, I decided that a hoist was needed, and that it would go quicker if someone else who was experienced did the job.

The problem is that once you open up a can of worms, there are more worms to deal with. This job turned into multiple jobs because, once you get into the works, you may as well replace other wear items too. The list of things tha the garage will do tomorrow:

1. Replace timing belt
2. Replace tensioner for timing belt.
3. Replace serpentine belt (accessory belt)
4. Replace water pump.

I'm expecting a bill exceeding $700, but that is better than having one of these pieces fail while on trip. All of the parts mentioned above are original. This investment will increase the reliability of this machine for my summer of driving.

I wasn't bored for the remainder of the day.
