Meeting with Flamingo (pic)

Flamingo met me and DH for lunch at Rocky's Italian Restaurant in Branson Thursday. We had a great visit and the food was delicious (I think it was the best place we ate at all week!). Flamey brought me some of the scrubbers her Mom makes and a fun set of 'flip-flop' coasters that she made!!

Here we are... me, the fluffy, very pale one.. Flamey the petite tanned one.

If you want to see more pictures from my Branson vacation, check the "Show Me Yours" thread.. I'll try to post something everyday till I run out.

Now to get caught up with all the posts I missed!

Fantastic! I'd give anything to have your patience!! I bought 6 of the little flamingos at Dollar Tree a few weeks ago, to paint. (they are about half the size, or smaller, than the regular ones like yours.) Baby Flamingos. LOL. hugs, Karen

It sure was fun! We still talk about it. DD even had my nephew (5) doing it at mom & dad's anniversary dinner! Damien is getting pretty good at it. That was at breakfast yesterday. We took the pictures with her phone, then she emailed them to me, cause she doesn't have a photobucket acct and no clue what to do. Tami

Lucky you Magic! Love the ity bity palm trees. If you have a cavern of a purse like mine, a wallet thingy like that would come in handy. Last Friday evening my buds and I were having a cocktail after a long evening of decorating for post prom. At some point about 4 of the gals pulled a version of the condiment pouch ,,out of their purse (only they were hard sided). I thought, "PERFECT"!! I can never find things in my cave purse, a hand size wallet would definitely do the job for my oddball storage. Hopefully this evening I can pick one up cause going through my purse is like rummaging through a trash can, its sooo big. It's time to organize or get a better purse.

I'd definitely agree about glass giving your space a more modern direction. I'm thinking black glass would also be very 'hard' visually -- another surface with a 'strong, masculine' bent. Is that something you want? What direction DO you want to go in? (If it were me, I'd tip just a bit back to the 'softer and more feminine side' with a ceramic tile with a bit of a 'cushion' shape (handmade) and a color that's rich but not too dark. I'm thinking a simple 4x4 on a diagonal layout with a frame treatment over the range... While I love the metal decos, I think they may add too much 'clutter' to an element that needs to be more 'background'. You've also got a lot of outlets in your splash -- so there will already be things there -- things you probably don't want to draw the eye to...

Nice pic. I know where mingo got her tan. I wonder if I missed a post about the trip to Florida.

Branson has tons of fun places, that was great you two could get together there.

Here are the coasters Maryann!

You can slip the base of your stemed glasses into the 'flip-flop' straps and they'll stay on. Cute, huh? I put one of the scrubbies in the picture too in case someone hasn't seen one yet.

Oh, we had the best time! Lunch was so yummy, she really did her homework and found a great restaurant off the beaten path, but so easy to find in old downtown Branson. Lydia's husband was, as usual, very funny, as was Lydia and we gabbed and laughed and we just had a wonderful visit. AND she brought me 3 jars of the hard-to-find tomato jam! I walked out of there on cloud 9! I am rich with jam.

I'm glad you like the scrubbies and coasters, Lydia. Mum made the scrubbies from CR's instructions and I made the coasters, copying some commercial made ones that I found online, adapting them to a sewing project. They make great gifts, I've found! (I actually make 2 different styles, both are cute, IMO.)

All in all, Thursday was a great day. I got a good price on gas, too, it was 25 cents a gallon cheaper in MO compared to where we live. Sheesh. Only a few miles away and what a difference.

And Lydia, you're not pale, you're pink. You have great skin color, you look lovely. Thanks again for lunch and for taking time out of your vacation to meet with me. Happy Belated Anniversary!
