I wish for a smooth kitchen renovation in 2012We had a nightmare renovation from 2008-2010 on the rest of the house and I don't want to relive that disaster.

On a smaller scale, me really, really want a Rangecraft hood. If I forego a range underneath it, the budget might stretch enough. :)

New *everything* for my kitchen, except for the 2 year old fridge and my cheery red curtains, which I still love even after 13 years. Does that make me sound greedy? Oh, dear, but Santa, I have been good this year. Please?

Oh, but you want specifics? And here I thought Santa was a mind reader. Dang. Guess I'd better fine tune my vision and that's going to take a bit of time.

In the meantime, I'd gladly take a new set of cookware since mine dates back to college graduation, a few decades ago. Preferably something that works with induction, please.

I could also use a new set of silverware to replace my 23+ year old mish-mash supply that is partly my grandma's daily silverware, used for at least a decade before I got it, and inexpensive fill-ins. A few of the knives have split at the seams. Seriously. Time for new stuff.

I'd also love an easier to read instant-read thermometer. Enough of the confabs as we try to determine whether it's registering 135 or 158.

But my really big splurge? I'd love a personal chef to come in to give me cooking lessons, from fancy dishes to easy to make, crowd-pleasing GF meals and desserts.

All I want for Christmas is a working dishwasher. Forget the faucet, potfiller, sprayer, range hood, cabinet pulls, light fixtures, electrical outlets, microwave, kitchen door, window hardware, moldings and missing cabinets. All I want for Christmas is a working dishwasher.

To get this sucker finished--bookshelves, tile trim, roman shades plus the air handler so we can solve the condensation problems.

Finishing is something I can and will do -- as soon as I make up my mind :) dh needs some help doing that too.

If I could get a pure wish, the paid-for-by-santa 30" NXR range with flat front panel would arrive before New Years, ending 5 or so years of P.O.C. GE Profile all gas convection resentment.

I have one pot left from my first set of pots - 1970's Revereware but it's almost ready for hospice care - the handle is losing integrity rapidly. It's the very small one and gave its whole life to reheating soup, soft boiling eggs, melting butter and making roux.

An electric pasta maker. I don't have enough hands. And I'm pretty sure Santa Baby is getting it for me. A box (just the right size) is just sitting there staring at me!

Well, I want a whole house but I guess that won't fit under the tree so what I'm hoping for is a Paderno set of pots - the ones that come with a lifetime warranty and are flown on Air Force One (I have a weakness for good ad copy).

I think I dropped enough "subtle" hints when Paderno was having their 48 hour sale that there's a good chance that's what Santa will bring me.

Maybe this belongs under the confessional thread but I don't plan on using them until we move : )

Being allowed to hook up our stove and being free from our single induction burner. I am almost at the 13 month mark with no stove.
I'd also love some renewed energy for the finishing touches that I can do.
My biggest wish though is for someone to finish putting together the complaint for Consumer Affairs for me, so that we can have the gc pay for the work that was done wrong or never finished to be done by someone competent.

My oven light to go OFF again. (After a power outage it stays on, no matter how many times I press 'light' on the panel. It's too hot to unscrew the cover and remove it, and I'm afraid to run the self-clean function with it on. It's been at least 2 months and hasn't burned out yet.)

A second dishwasher, with a special rack just for stemware, so you could hang glasses upside down for the wash. Not sure there is such a thing, but surely Santa can find one.

The software to figure out the layout for my kitchen--oh please, Santa, it's been a tough year and I've been so good!

The patience I will need to go through the upcoming demo and kitchen remodel, the hope that DH gets "understanding" in his Christmas stocking to put up with my TKO.....and if Santa so wishes I'll take that hood that Boxer posted too!!! OT...Boxer, who makes the lighting you posted above?

Chicagoan, Can't you turn off the power at the electrical box? Then wait for the bulb to cool and remove it.

It may be that, when you turn the range back on, it will reset itself and you'll be able to turn the light on and off again. (Can't think of any logical reason why that would be true, but I've seen that type of thing more than once with electronic items--as if they just needed a reset.) Even if it doesn't go back to working, at least you'll have the light off.

Allow me to be the first to wish everyone here and around the world a Merry Christmas, peace on earth, goodwill to all ... Or perhaps I should be more practical with a smaller, less glamorous wish : I wish a full tummy and at least this one day when noone here or anywhere goes to bed hungry.

I only had a small list of wishes, that DH wonderfully fulfilled:

1) a new digital remote thermometer, which I opened early so we could grill the tenderloin. It turned out awesome. Perfect. A little tricky at first getting the broadcast to work, but we got it.

2) A Kitchenaid Artisan mixer in blue to match our kitchen. I know I'm late to the party and most people get these on their wedding registries, but I've never had one. We are interested in the meat grinder attachment, so more of a gift for both of us.

I guess Christmas has already arrived, but I will wish away... I will take one of those Pot Fillers on Boxers list and the tile to go with it.. and I'm with Steph on the Clarity Layout thing.... Going into my 2nd Christmas with a gutted kitchen but Garden Web has given me so much in getting the kitchen that works for me. Christmas Morning and all the dishes (using my 24" x 15" cloakroom sink) are washed and put away. About to get the Stollen put into the oven (the one appliance in the kitchen lol) Life is good! Merry Christmas everyone. I hope your wishes came true or are about to soon!!
