I don't have the side lever, but I have the regular Rohl country pull-out. I assume that the spray works similarly: a tap on the round top of the faucet head changes it from stream to spray and an easy twist of the round top changes it back to stream. Once put into stream mode it will stay there until changed again (you don't have to hold it down continuously to keep it spraying). The model you mentioned is available with a metal lever and a porcelain lever. I like my faucet very much. It is easy to use. The spray pull-out is not heavy. I have the soap dispenser, also, and it like it very much as well. I would buy them both again.

Astridh, thank you. This decision is making me more crazy than usual. Maybe because everything else has already been picked and I'm worrying that this last thing will not blend. Our cabinet hardware is brushed nickel---perimeter cabinets are white, island cabinets are dark stained cherry. Our appliances are stainless. Light fixtures are bronze. Now I'm going to add chrome faucets (maybe brushed nickel if I can find a way to do one more budget buster)so I feel the style has to be just right to avoid looking like I've done a total hodgepodge instead of the new/old house that I've been aiming to do. I bought mine in the satin nickel finish which I think is very pretty. It blends in nicely with the stainless trim on my range. I would recommend STAINLESS not satin nickel for the drain since I think you can damage the nickel with strong scrubbing or chemicals. They match just fine. I think satin nickel is prettier than chrome plus it doesn't show water spots, but it is more expensive. Still, it will be in your hand many times every day. Worth a splurge, I thought. Your combination sounds very nice. Good luck.

A friend of mine has the Rohl Country Pull-out #R77V3 that Astridh mentioned. My friend thinks it's great, works beautifully, and looks beautiful. Except her regret is that she didn't choose the smaller version (called the Country Pull-out with Short Handspray #R77V3S) because she has a small sink in a small kitchen. Even the smaller version is over 7" reach. So the larger one stretches too far into her sink and doesn't look in proportion. To avoid something like that (unless your sink is large and then you don't have to worry), it helps to do a cardboard cutout of the faucet's reach and hold it over your sink to see if it looks OK.

Hi shannonplus. If the disproportionate size really bugs your friend she can order a replacement part of just the pull-out. I have the regular size faucet on my main sink (which is very big) and the smaller one on my prep sink. The proportions look great. I had originally ordered two big ones, and it didn't look right so I exchanged one of the big ones for a smaller one. I compared the restocking fee with just getting a replacement hand set, and I think both were about one hundred dollars. If it really bothers your friend, she could consider doing that.

I too chose this exact faucet for my farmhouse sink after a lot of hemming and hawing and decision angst.

A baffled friend said to me, "It's just a sink!" But it's not. It's a workstation, one which you will spend much time with over the years. I think a kitchen faucet is a major decision. So don't feel bad!

I chose the Rohl Country pull-out for the exact features Astridh describes. The button at the top to change from spray to stream mode works fabulously -- no fumbling with a cruddy rubber button to find the sweet spot. Push for spray, turn for stream. It *stays* in spray mode, unlike many other faucets. Testing in the store, the handle felt good in my hand, not absurdly heavy (as some bathroom handshower handles can be), and the lever was accurate and smooth.

The one thing I couldn't tell well was how easily it pulls out, but the salesman said that has a lot to do with how/where it's installed. I don't entirely believe that, but any pull-out faucet could need some futzing.

My Rohl faucet is still in the box, so I can't give direct experience, but my local plumbing store happened to have this one installed next to several others, so I got to test-drive several with water. I fell in love immediately when I got my hands on the Rohl! Of course I still had to obsess and fret about it for weeks before settling on it :).

Thanks Astridh for that suggestion! I am going to let my friend know. Although I googled the Rohl short handspray part, and it's $153, so I am not sure my friend will want to spend the money, but I'll let her know in any case.
