Need help picking a kitchen table for banquette

We're nearing the end of our remodel and are finally furnishing the space. I'm looking for a small (30 in - 36 in) table for a banquette that is situated in the corner of our kitchen. Our kitchen has clean lines, white and espresso cabs and lighter colored quartzite.

We're looking for a pedestal table and a circular top -- preferably something with a stainless base, like the below photo. We've looked everywhere and can't seem to find a table that fits our needs. I would love to see photos of small cafe tables if anyone has them. Or, if anyone has any recommendations for sources for cafe/kitchen tables, that would be helpful.

I don't suppose you got that picture of the base from somewhere that sells it, did you? Because it wouldn't be hard to have someone make you a circular top for it if you had that base.

I don't know how handy you are, but couldn't you use a jig saw to cut a table top from MDF board and paint it any color you want?

I love your idea and I love your brick walls. 1. I don't know, but id hate to see any sheen to them. Id try to leave it as is if you can. Maybe a piece of glass over the table top. 2.Love the colors. 3. Long ways only IMHO. Good luck!

I've never built a banquette, but my kitchen and dining room is exactly like yours, layout and dimensions. We don't have a wall between the DR and LR however, so we've put a buffet server on the long wall between DR and LR. Clearly, you've outgrown your house. My dining room looks so much bigger than yours because I'm not trying to make it do double duty by storing stuff that should be in the kitchen. The open storage is not doing you any favors of making your space look comfortable and peaceful at dinnertime. Rather than built-ins, consider a hutch or buffet server with some closed storage that you can take with you when you move. Simplify your stuff, and I guarantee you'll add to the function, and you'll feel much more relaxed. There's a principle of elementary education that says if the classroom is disorganized and chaotic, the students will be too. Besides whether a banquette is doable, does it make sense for future buyers? I would ask a realtor before I went any further. I don't like the idea of the banquette against a peninsula with a sink. My counter extends 19" beyond my sink, and I get splash almost to the edge. Seating--we have a 36" x 54" table--a little narrower than most rectangular tables. We put 4 chairs on the long sides. I find that arrangement more roomy than a chair at each end. Extensions pull out from under the table on the short ends for guests. Mine is positioned with the long side along the peninsula, but you could turn yours the other way.

Romy - thank you so much for taking the time to post pics. I have seen many of those since I have been looking for photos of banquettes. TBH, I haven't seen many examples of bold, vibrant colors/prints and that may be a function of people shying away from that look. DH and I still like the idea of brighter/polychromatic print, but we just really need to think this out with swatches in the room. So much for getting the banquette done for Christmas! I'm at work now, but I can get a photo later today of the banquette area. We are still waiting for a lot of trim work to be finished, but you'll get the idea. I had my cabinet maker make the utensil drawer based on a few photos I had seen on Houzz. ::wub:: I'm not sure if it can be retrofitted for the canisters since you need enough clearance for the tops of the utensils. cawaps - thank you for taking the time to mock up a mood board. DH are doing all the design ourselves w/o KD or any designer (we are doing almost a whole house remodel) and while I like to think everything has been well thought out, that obviously hasn't happened consistently! bpathome - the other chairs will be PB Napolean chairs in chestnut stain, which is wood and has an open design in the back. We may put cushions on later - not sure now. kitchendetective - the kitchen has a 5' opening to the family room, which we are still renovating. It's painted BM Cameo White, a creamy white that reads almost beigey-peach in some lights with BM Decorator's White trim. The family room furniture is very nuetral with a beigey sofa and love seat, sage green velvet chairs and cream and brown rug. We have red and white oak mixed floor in a Provincial stain. I found a couple additional fixtures which are similar to the Visual Comfort one I posted previously and one from Pottery Barn where the shade has a similar shape to the pendants. I am also going to repost the previous favorite one so that are all on one post. I think I am leaning towards order the Visual Comfort one but would love to get more opinions. Visual Comfort Original Visual Comfort Barbara Barry Westport Hudson Valley Pottery Barn - this one but in bronze instead of brass Also, I took some photos of the family room. It is more full than normal with the Christmas decorations. What color do you think would work for the banquette cushions? What color chair would you replace with wood ones with? For the banquette and chairs I really need some type of leather or vinyl because my little kids (1.4, 3.5, 5.5) are messy as you expect. I also need help with furniture and decorations for the family room. With the dark furniture, dark wood coffee and end table, and the wood floors in this house it is just too much darkness. I haven't found I rug I like and desperately need one but don't really know what would look good. I will probably also post in the home decorating forum. Any insight you all have is much appreciated. sprtphntc - I don't know if I want up or down lighting. I think there is enough light in general that we don't need down lighting. I had looked through HF's website of all of the chandeliers and none of the stood out to me other than the one I posted. If you have one which you think would work well in my space, let me know and I will take another look.

Look up restaurant supple (stainless) table bases. Then you could have a a 30 inch circular top of your counter top made.

Hi, the Zero table comes to mind from your description. Very customizable as to size and wood color. I love DWR for modern design.

DH works for a restaurant supply company. These bases are very common. If you have one nearby you could go ask if they can put you in contact with their table maker. I just gogled pedestal table bases and came across this site. I remember seeing it months ago when someone else was looking for a banquette table.

These are great suggestions, thanks so much! I love the Room and Board table and Design within Reach Zero table - gorgeous! We're going to head out tomorrow and look at those, and hit a few restaurant supply places. I think we could probably replicate the Zero table by getting a base and making our own top.

island, our banquette will be installed Monday - we're having custom seating made. It's a small space under the windows and we have cabinets below the banquette for extra storage.
