Doesn't carrera have grey running through it? I wonder how it would look with warm tones also. Can you hold a piece of it up to a warm white cabinet door. It may help to see it together in person with warm wall paint colors, etc.

Many GW'er have done carrera with white cabinets. Have you looked in the Finished Kitchen's Blog yet?

I have cararra with creamy cabs. Would have preferred bright white cabs but was talked out of them. Dumb me. Anyway, I think it works. Have a lot of different whites going on. I don't think anyone walks into the kitchen and thinks twice about it. Still, would have preferred bright white.

I think you may be right about the calcutta vs. the carrera . . . Yes carrera has grey veining but I am not a fan of a lot of veining and some carrera has much less of a grey cast.

I think I do need to see it in person. I just don't really know how to tie in a white-white kitchen (or a grey white kitchen) with the warmer trim colors. . . I am very visual so pictures are worth a thousand words to me.

That's a beautiful bath. I couldn't picture how cold marble would work with warm cabs. But that's a FB color. Their colors are so unique that you might have trouble finding another pain color that worked at 1/2 the price. Hmm....maybe you have the budget for FB. I wish I did!

Go check out marbles in person. I love the look of Carrera, but definetly do not like gray. It just wouldn't work with my house colors either.

athensmom - we just got back from SC, so here is a picture of my almost completed kitchen with Alabama White marble on the island. I know that the kitchen is painted blue, but you can see the camel walls of the great room, beyond, & I think the AL White would look fine with the warmer colors.

My marble was from Slabco in TR, but they have the same thing in Elberton which should only be ~35 miles away from Athens. The cabinets and all of the trim in the house is painted BM Mascarpone from the Affinity line & it is just gorgeous! Its very warm w/o veering of into tan or yellow. I think the picture lightens it some, so it is a bit more creamy, in person.

We have Carrera in a bath with creamy (SW Dover White) cabs - we pulled in pure white through the tile floor (white herringbone) and subways in the shower - I love them all together. But then again I love grey with pretty much everything...

Athensmomof3, I think you can stay away from stark but just not go real creamy if you stick with Carrera...you just need a white that is warm vs. cool. Even something like BM White Dove is going to read white...I would just be careful about doing head on cream.

You probably already know about it...but www.houzz.com is a great resource - it is like an online clippings site where you make your own files for what you like.

It is FILLED with kitchens that have Carrera and white cabs and they don't look stark...if you were in So Cal I would give you my STACKS of kitchen magazines and you could have a hey day!

Athensmomof3 - the bath above is not Carrara. It looks more like a Calacatta or Venato, which is whiter with a softer grey veining and some beige to it. The Calacatta family is a whiter, warmer marble, but also significantly more $$. Also, Alabama White seems to be much whiter than most Carrara, but depending on where you are, it may not be as readily available.

I went through the same process as you. I wanted a creamy white kitchen with Carrara, and every cabinet sample I tried didn't work. You really have to take a marble sample with you when shopping for cabinets. Keep in mind that when you are looking at photos, especially of the "styled" kitchens, the lighting is different.

If you want the marble on the island only, have you considered doing the island cabinetry a different color? I find Carrara looks great with almost anything other than a creamy white. Do check out the different Calacattas too before you order the cabinets. If the price is right, you'll be able to pull off the creamy/marble look.

I do not have marble, but I love this look. I think a
cool or warm toned marble can work in the right setting.

Just a side note in re Farrow and Ball. You can buy sample "pots" of their colors for $7. I have used FnB twice, and in other cases just copied their color in BM paint. (almost anyone can copy a paint color if you have the number).

I didnt discern a difference. But in any event I would try a sample pot of color. FNB also has GREAT advice on their website.

Try Pointing or WHite Tie , terrific colors.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful pictures and advice! As far as colors go, I would definitely do the BM version of Farrow and Ball paint and pocket the extra :) Love White Tie and Pointing and am considering both!

I have thought about doing the island in another color. Here is a house I am stalking :) - we copied our limestone portico and the narrow french doors on our facade from this house and will likely copy a version of the waxed pine library. She uses a pine island and has a creamier kitchen. It looks like she has the white carrera and the creamier white cabinets in this picture with a pine island . . . I actually love cream and white together (I see it alot in bedrooms), so maybe the Alabama White is a better option. Buckhead Hillbilly actually has samples of Alabama White and Georgia White for me when I make it to Atlanta!

As far as this attached house - it is just about perfect. If I had 7 million I would move in :)

I, personally, love the combination of creamy cabinets and white marble. If I decide I can live with some etching, I am going to go with Vermont Danby Mountain White for my cream kitchen.

All my family live in your area (though we are in Savannah) and I, too, am doing a white/cream/marble kitchen. So, I feel a kinship with you :). Am hoping to look at slabs up there over Thanksgiving since I haven't found any I'm in love with down here.

We are doing calacatta on countertops & island. I find it to be much warmer than carrara, which I have in the master bath. Cararra IMO definitely has a cooler, more gray cast to it, whereas the calacatta is a bit warmer with gray and warm taupey veins in it. I am going to play up the warm taupiness of the calacatta.

Perimeter cabs will be BM white dove and the island a dark taupe- BM wildwood crest. I too don't want a stark space, so I am going to do a really light creamy taupey color in the sunroom/FR that is at one end of the kitchen. Trying to pull this color from the marble veining, so still working on it.

F&B white tie and lime white are gorgeous and would be beautiful on the wall with white cabs (I may use it myself ). The white dove is definitely not stark white and looks great with the marble.

I have trouble with links, but if you google Atlanta Homes magazine "modern glam" that's a gorgeous creamy kitchen. I think it's limestone, but same idea would be beautiful with marble.

Keep us posted - your kitchen sounds like it will be spectacular & I'd love to hear about your paint choices, since I am still debating on color for my breakfast room cabinets. Good Luck!

I think this can be a great combo, but I agree, you have to be careful.... what will you do for faucets and lighting?

The Argonne Drive house looks like they pulled off the color combo perfectly, but it might be the picture!
