Appliances with creamy white cabinets? Or choose counters first?
Comments (14)I wish that appliance manufacturer's would give us different options. How I would love to see a bronze refrigerator. JennAir had bronze in their line up several years ago but it wasn't well received. It must have been too reminiscent of the old coppertone appliances. Bisque and almond never quite hit the mark and are almost impossible to find. I would think that bisque or almond would look better with creamy white than bright white. I am tired of ss but that is what we are going with due to the lack of other options. Black would have been too dark and I didn't feel white would look good....See MoreNeed cabinet color/counter top help
Comments (19)terrilynn, I am confused about what to do for the island and also the desk/coffee bar/bar area. I'm going back and forth on wood or soapstone for the island. I'm pretty sure I want wood on the desk and soapstone on the bar/coffee area. (just for maintenance purposes). I'm not sure if I do the base colors on the other areas the same as the island or different. We aren't doing any stainless except for the range, but that desk is pretty cool! Lavender, thanks, and I love the idea of red accents. I hadn't really thought that far, but that will be perfect and will blend with the rest of our house. I guess I need to figure out if I can really do the painted island and how much maintenance that will be. Here are my options, in case anyone else is as confused as I am: 1. Wood colored island with soapstone top 2. Sage/light green island with soapstone top 3. Sage/light green island with wood top Desk: something with a wood top....I'm thinking base should match the island, unless of course the island base is wood tone, and then it would either match the yellow cabinets or the coffee bar area. Coffee bar/bar: definitely soapstone top- either yellow cabinets like the rest of the kitchen, green, or wood colored. I'm even confusing myself, so if anyone is following this, I'm impressed, and thank you for any thoughts!...See MoreCreamy white kitchen with Carrera Countertops?
Comments (18)Hi athensmomof3, All my family live in your area (though we are in Savannah) and I, too, am doing a white/cream/marble kitchen. So, I feel a kinship with you :). Am hoping to look at slabs up there over Thanksgiving since I haven't found any I'm in love with down here. We are doing calacatta on countertops & island. I find it to be much warmer than carrara, which I have in the master bath. Cararra IMO definitely has a cooler, more gray cast to it, whereas the calacatta is a bit warmer with gray and warm taupey veins in it. I am going to play up the warm taupiness of the calacatta. Perimeter cabs will be BM white dove and the island a dark taupe- BM wildwood crest. I too don't want a stark space, so I am going to do a really light creamy taupey color in the sunroom/FR that is at one end of the kitchen. Trying to pull this color from the marble veining, so still working on it. F&B white tie and lime white are gorgeous and would be beautiful on the wall with white cabs (I may use it myself ). The white dove is definitely not stark white and looks great with the marble. I have trouble with links, but if you google Atlanta Homes magazine "modern glam" that's a gorgeous creamy kitchen. I think it's limestone, but same idea would be beautiful with marble. Keep us posted - your kitchen sounds like it will be spectacular & I'd love to hear about your paint choices, since I am still debating on color for my breakfast room cabinets. Good Luck! Comments (6)rmancuso - I just finally got samples of a bunch of quartz and brought it home with the ikea door to see in my apartment. Glad I did - I took the london grey, along with some of the recommendations above and some other randoms. I ended up liking the london grey the best! It doesn't look the same in an ikea showroom as in your home. Also I find the quartz was more grey/beige tone then bright white as it appeared at ikea. On a side note - I like the picture of Jillian Harris's kitchen on the ikea website - there is no where that lists what her counters are. I emailed ikea and they let me know all of the details and they were london grey. http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_CA/SEKTION-kitchen/sektion_inspiration.html?page=2 My biggest recommendation to you is to buy a door at ikes (you can return it) and take out samples of quartz home in your kitchen. Helped a ton!...See Morehoneysucklevine
