Don't try to match the cabinet color, but the wall color would be nice. I agree that the white has to go!

Your cream dishes will pop against a darker brown like the cabinets, and it is a commonly done thing to use the cabinet wood inside of a glass front cabinet, but I don't know how your crystal will fare. You might try painting a test paper and putting it behind your shelves to see for sure if the lights are enough to bring out the sparkle.

An alternative would be to choose a color more like your granite's overall beige look, or one of the medium toned colors in your backsplash, that's dark enough to pop the cream and light enough so the crystal doesn't look muddy.

You could also add a punch of color there. A strong or golden yellow, or even a peach tone, would look nice with your neutral finishes, and should look good with your things.

If these cabinets are supposed to show off your stuff, you're already successful.

What about doing the backsplash tile in there...? It would be like a mix of open shelves / glass front cabs. Of course it might not work at all with the rest of your kitchen... but something to (maybe very briefly) consider.

My neighbor put grasscloth wallpaper in hers and it is really pretty.

I like the white since you have the window in white and your trim. I think it showcases what is inside very well. I am not crazy about the thought of paint, but if you really wanted to, would keep it to the lighter colors of your bs. Dark enough to not look like dingy white, but not too dark. Your lights will not be on all the time and it could get too dark if you went with a strong color.

It may not be practical. but I could also see stainless back there as a simple base material. Mirrors would be too much. There may be a faux stainless veneer of sorts you can find. I think IKEA has something like that for counters.

I like it as is also. If you paint the inside, will the brush strokes show? They might with the lights on. Is the inside of those cabinets wood or melamine type material? I agree that because the trim is white, your window treatment is white, and your outlet covers are white that the white blends with the room. Unless you're planning on changing all of that too?

I think the white works nicely, but it's not integrated with the rest of your kitchen yet. Put a few decorative items that are dark on the shelves with the glassware, and I bet it will look terrific!

Thanks for the compliments and helpful advice everyone! The inside is a white melamine. We are leaning towards applying a paint the same colour of the wall or a bit darker. The paint will be applied professioanlly as to ensure that no drops or streaks show...which was my concern when the lights are on.

The stainless back is also interesting as is the marble..very creative!

My wife would like to go with Benjamin Moore HC-46 Jackson Tan for the inside paint. It is darker than the wall colour but does match the backsplash.

Love your kitchen! That's a pretty paint color and would go well with the other colors in your kitchen. Usually, though, the inside of glass front cabinets are made to match the outside of the cabinets whether stained or painted. Have you thought of purchasing "skins" in the same wood stain from your cabinet maker as someone else suggested? Since you have lights in your cabinets the crystal should still show nicely.

You can also put a piece of mirror there. I like the idea of putting the backsplash tile there. It's a great look. I wouldn't use another paint color or wood color there. Too many things going on then. If you're going to paint, then use the wall color.

We are still undecided...ugh!

If you do go with paint, make it a panel that can be removed if you change your mind down the road. No need to paint directly on the backs of the cab.
Have you considered tin or copper for inside the cab? The tin would match well with your hardware and the copper is close to the color you want to paint.
I agree about trying a few darker pieces in the cab before doing anything. It is looking very white because the contents are light as well. If you had some dark glass pieces to coordinate with the bs, that may be the punch that is needed.

The tin is also a very interesting and creative idea. You guys are great. Because we do want to keep the look subtle and less âÂÂpoppingâ that the current all white, I think we will be likely painting the inside.

I am just really struggling with regards to finalizing a paint colour. I like the idea on the wall colour but think it may look greeny inside the cabinet. I have come across BM-Rawhide and BM-Jackson Tan which would be very nice but maybe too dark?
