Bar area finally done.. pics

It took me forever to get glass panels for the doors in the bar cabinets. Found a very talented lady who made them for me with leaded glass. I LOVE the little pulls that I found from Horton Brasses. Had the back wall wallpapered because it was looking a little too cold.

I hope you like it. I am really happy with how it came out, particularly the glass doors.

Thanks for letting me know those are Flor tiles, Sue! Even better! They would likely work better than the rug I have in my kitchen because the ends of the rug are bulky and get in the way of the trash compactor opening. I have been having a hard time finding the right long rug for the hallway that will run from our front door to the mudroom, too. I will have to keep an eye out for good deals on flor tiles while we do that part of our remodel. I have been really enjoying the home decor forum here now that our kitchen is mostly done, and we will be starting on the rest of the house this spring. We just got cafe curtains hung in the kitchen and dining room today, so it was nice to see your curtains, too. Just enough for privacy, but still lets the light in...

rufinorox- They are actually Whirlpool appliances! I would have preferred Kitchen Aid or Frigidaire, but the builder (it's a new build) doesn't offer. Thanks! jsweenc- I figured out that I am fine choosing as things go along. Choosing floors, having those down, choosing what comes next, having that in.... But all at once on small samples kicked my butt!!! But, we're happy! Thanks!

I love your new banister and the colors you used! I love the white with the black. I love your wooden floor and the wall color. You did a wonderful job. My railings going up my step are a bright white gloss (but is not so shiny so looks like a pearl finish to me) with oak tops and sides rather than your black. I am keeping it since it matches the oak kitchen cabinets and the stairs can be seen by the open kitche. If I ever have a chance to paint the cabinets that are a little bit worn out, I will look at this post as my inspiration for my step railings. Thank you for sharing your talented hard work.

Martha: Thank you so much for your kind words. I like the words "verbal bouquet", I am going to use that sometime this week... and yes they do have value. I appreciate your comments, thank you. Bayarea: Yes the red cabinets! Well, he did take them back and redid the finish. (He claims he didn't know his installer had taken them from the shop that day to install... whatever.) I told him to do away with the distressing and just give me finished red cabinets. He did accomplish that. We didn't end on the best of terms. I am thrilled with the quality of the construction, and for the most part happy with the finishing. However, his ability to run his own business and communicate with other humans leaves a lot to be desired. He won't get my reccommendation to anyone. Regarding the hearth, I would be remiss if I didn't say thanks to Colleen... (colleen, I can't remember your full screen name) for sending me a photo she had for inspiration. I was also highly influenced by this photo I found here on GW. I absolutely love it and worked my own rendidtion. If someone knows who to thank, please let me know!

WOW.. I really like it a lot! I remember you went with Crown Point for the other part of your kitchen-- what species/stain do you have in your bar area? It looks fantastic.

thank you!

danielle, crown point didn't build the bar. we had our General Contractors build it. we went with the same stain that went on the floor (indian summer by carlisle).

Love the new that looks old! Nice job. I saw the photo without the wallpaper, and it was a good call and a wonderful choice with your glass.

Love, love, love it. You have such a keen eye for design and decorating. The wallpaper and glass really pulls it all together. And your beautiful ocean green granite....what an amazing stone.

This is so pretty! I love the glass, she did a beautiful job! Those little pulls are such a perfect finishing touch! Is the pretty counter soapstone? If it is, what kind is it?

Mamadadapaige - it looks great. You are truly talented. I love your kitchen - the window, butcher block island, range hood, cabinets, the colours that compliment each other without being overpowering - I can go on and on. From your layout it looks like your bar area is in front of your dining area and open to the kitchen and the living room. Is that right? So no 'seperate' dining room? We are almost complete with our renovation and opened the dining area to the kitchen and we are quite happy. I'm at the point where I need to finish the backsplash, pick lighting etc and am stuck. I would love to get your advise on some things? Are we allowed to email GW members or do you just post a message on the board with your GW name? Sorry, I didn't mean to take over your post.

Ver, very nice. I love those little pulls, too. I've seen similar ones around and have been quite attracted to them. I'll have to keep them in mind for our dining room redo.
