Pro/Pro-Style Ranges Flush with Cabinets
Comments (14)The cabinets are Ikea with walnut doors from semi-handmade. I just looked up the Ancona range on costco.com and it won't work for me, it's dual fuel, i need all gas, & it's 36", I need 30". It looks like the ILVE range may work for me also. Is there anywhere that I can find the depth of ranges from the back to the face of the door? AJ Madison is inconsistent with what their depth is measuring (on some ranges it's to the door, some to the handle, some to the front overhang)....See MoreRange hoods: Please Help! Comments (15)One thing that seems to be shown here, from your experience and also laranbrian's, is that mesh filters are noisier. We have "pro style" metal baffles. Here's the (obviously biased, but I think informative) quote off the Modernaire site: "Modern-Aire Ventilating believes like most major range manufacturers and restaurant supply houses that the most efficient filtration system is the Baffle Filter. Unlike non-filtered range hoods, a Baffle Filter catches up to 97% of all grease and grease particles before they ever enter the interior of the range hood, making clean up a breeze. Unlike mesh filters, the air passing through a Baffle Filter is not restricted, thus allowing a smoother and quieter transition. Perhaps the most important aspect of the Baffle Filter is that the baffles in the filter are positioned to eliminate direct passage of flame through the filter thus making it one of the safest and most efficient filtration systems available today." I think it's a far superior design for the liner. And it looks cooler too :-)...See Morepro-style range island trim design prob--please, help!
Comments (11)Thank you all for responding. Arc1017, I think your kitchen is beautiful and I've referred to it many times before, actually. Thank you for your honest assessment of the situation! Edlakin, I called around to various dealers in my area (metro Washington DC) asking about using another manufacturer's island trim, and was basically told (not very politely either) that messing with the island trim would invalidate my warranties...they sounded mostly annoyed with me and just wanted to finish the new sale, but I'm just a bit of a wuss and not much of a DIYer in these kinds of situations (I actually work in a creative field and I'll improvise in design, clothes, food...but BTUs and heat transfer are just out of my league!) so I caved. Bottom line, I'm getting full credit on the Thermador and will be getting a Viking 36" instead. Alku, our dealer doesn't have Bluestar so it wasn't an option as far as the exchange. BUT It turned out to be less of a price difference than I thought because the Viking island trim costs a lot less, but still more than I'd budgeted for. GRrr. I've kept to my budget so faithfully on this project and was really looking forward to my new Pro Harmony. Thanks all for indulging my crazy question!...See MoreDesigning a new kitchen and need help choosing a pro-style range.
Comments (2)It is recommended that you get a vent hood that is 6" wider than your rangetop for the best capture area, maybe that will help you determine what size rangetop you will have room for?...See Moremotherof3sons
