Make sure you have everything. Get the boxes off and inspect everything. It is common to have something damaged in shipping (a door or something), this will help the replacement get expedited. Ask the rep to bring another set of drawings.

And thanks for saying that it's a common problem. So I won't feel as bad if it turns out something's damaged. :-)

check everything with fine tooth comb. # of shelves you agreed to, thickness of wood including bottom of drawers, soft close working right, does the finish match specs, sized right, end panels look right, all trim pieces included etc etc etc

My experience is that there is no way you're going to unbox all those cabinets during delivery - they weigh 5 tons and each one takes several minutes to de-cardboard. (It's also handy to have the label on the box to figure out exactly what each piece is when it's time to put them up.)

I'd recommend verifying that each box is one you ordered and they're all there. Visually inspect each box for shipping damage. If your shop rep is there, he/she can help with the checklist, but you need to be personally sure you locate each thing. So exciting!

suzannesl, your comment about not being able to unbox during delivery was spot on! There was simply no time during the delivery itself. I did manage to look at each label on the wrapped items and compare with the KD's list, and that all matched up. In fact, it almost looks likes there's an additional bit of light valance and scribe moulding over what she had in the list, so that's all goodness.

babushka_cat, thanks for the detailed list of what to check! I was all prepared to check those things this afternoon, and then when they all arrived, the rep reminded me they have a lifetime warranty. I figure I can take tomorrow to look at those things more closely. (At least I hope so--right now, I'm tuckered out!)

It _is_ exciting! I can almost start to feel optimistic that it will all turn out beautiful. :-)

How exciting la_koala! Our cabinets are set to arrive in two weeks. We've never done a kitchen remodel, so I've been lying awake at night stressing over all the details. (I'm afraid this will be my life for the next two months!)

Question for those who have gone through the remodeling process: Should the cabinet boxes be placed inside my home to acclimate, or is it okay to have them delivered and stored in the garage until we are ready for installation?
