Holligator, I hear your frustration and know you're not the only one, but this is the way I figure it: He's a sweet old country boy and a fine craftsman means he cares about getting it right and may be taking a little longer to make sure that the sides are square and the joins are true. And maybe because he's losing a little work time dealing with various clients who like talking to him because he's sweet.

The alternative is the surly guy who gets your cabinets done and in absolutely on time. They're a little off, and he has to take one or more units back to the shop to fix, but he was going to meet that day no matter what.

I'll take the sweet craftsman :)

Is there something fun you can do in the meantime? Like play with the Aga (what, no pictures?), or do cartwheels in the cabinetless kitchen? It's almost gone--do it while you can!

He is a sweetie, and he is concerned about getting it right. My friend who recommended him had this experience with him...she called to ask if there was anything she could do about water spots on the tops of the cabinet door in front of her sink that he had made for her five years earlier. He said he'd come take a look at it. When he stopped by and saw the spots, he said the door needed to be refinished. Then he said that it would be impossible to match the finish since it was five years old, so he took all the doors and all the drawer fronts in her entire kitchen and refinished them all at no cost to her. Talk about standing by your work!

I can barely see my Aga through the plastic wrap, and I want to keep it wrapped until it's ready to install rather than let it get covered with the dust that is everywhere else. But, I may go do some cartwheels. :)

Woo hoo, Holligator! What kind did you get? Color? This is soooo exciting! Even though you can't install it yet, tell us more. I'm still waiting on an Aga 6-4 to arrive myself. In the meantime, I can certainly get a bit of indirect joy over hearing about how your fab new range is inspiring you to do cartwheels!

I got a 36" Legacy in stainless. I know, it kind of defeats the purpose to get an Aga in stainless, but I just loved it too much. I was already set on getting one in black before they came out with the stainless ones. I wish I had the room for a 6-4. Those are so cool. What color are you getting?

Right now, I just can't wait to get cooking!!

I can very well understand why you went for the Legacy in stainless. I saw it in the showroom and it looked simply stunning! I can't wait to see pix of it in your kitchen. I'm sure it will literally sparkle next to your soapstone.

Mine is claret red. I actually came into the store intent on getting the Legacy 36" or 44" But, once I saw the 6-4 in claret red, I was a goner. :)

Dh thought our house would be finished in September...I figured October or early November to be safe...Still waiting (and working).

We ordered our appliances in August...Supposed to be here in 4 wks. Good thing we didn't need them, as all but 3 came Nov 15th. The last 3 came Dec 28th. One of the ones that came in November was damaged. We're finally getting it traded this Thursday.

HVAC ductwork was installed in the late summer, the furnace put in place in Nov, the furnace finally hooked up and turned on right before Christmas, and heat pump finally hooked up last week (when he turned on the furnace, he said he'd be back in about a wk to get the heat pump working). The dampers to operate the upstairs zone and the upstairs thermostat still aren't in.

Our wood flooring started to go in last Monday. They came back to do more Friday, and wont' be back til Thursday or Friday this week. It was supposed to take 2-3 days from the day it was started.

So, "Is it really THAT hard to estimate accurately when a job will be done?" ...Apparently, yes! ;-D

Mine's not the real Aga cooker. It's a Legacy dual fuel. The Aga cooker is not really an option in Florida, since it's on all the time.

So, the message today was that the cabinets won't be going in on Friday after all. They are "absolutely" going in on Monday. Whatever that means.

The Sevenska means Swedish, so it was dropped. Sorry for being a dork. I have a lot of useless info taking up room in my brain.

Wow! In all my reading about the Aga, I never came across this information! I did know that the Aga Cooker was invented by a Swede; in fact, this is one of the things that made it appealing to my half-Swedish husband, even though our Legacy is nothing like what the Swede invented (don't tell my husband that part, OK?). Since all of the Aga company sites spell it Aga, not AGA, I made an incorrect assumption that the name was not an acronym. Thanks so much for the enlightenment. Now I have to ask my Swedish husband (or my Swedish exchange student) how to pronounce "Aktiebolaget"! :)
