What Size Sink w/36' Corner Sink Base
Comments (3)You have to have 7 additional inches in your base cabinet to have enough room for your sink. So a 32" sink needs a base cabinet of 39 inches. Subtract 7 inches from your 36" and that's the width of the sink you can have. I am going through this right now. My carpenter might have to "scoop" my cabinet on the inside to fit in a 32'' sink, so I might have to scale down to a 24" sink--I'm still undecided and the work begins this week. Comments (3)Hi aussies - Ihave a 24" sink cabinet. I know there are several threads on this with useful information. I don't remember all of them, and I actually hijacked a few because I need similar informatin and I was only a day away from template. Try doing a search and you'll find a boatload of info. I also checked on "Plumbing" and there are some pretty good expers there too....See More30 or 36' sink cabinet? Offset drain sink???
Comments (5)Blanco has a couple of great silgranit sinks with offset drains. One is offset to the middle back, and one is offset to the corner in back. I love silgranit sinks. They never get water spots like stainless. They are quieter than stainless. They don't scratch like cast iron. Do a search at the bottom of the page for granite sinks, or silgranite, or silgranit. They are really fab! Oh, and pretty too with several colors available. The one I'm planning is the Precis with the middle back drain. It has a quilted bottom so water drains easier. I can't remember the name of the other, but if you go to faucet direct.com and use their filter search you should find them both....See MoreWhat's the biggest sink that can fit into Ikea cabinet?
Comments (47)I don't understand what they mean. My sink doesn't sit on or touch the base cabinet at all (it is about the same size as yours, but in a 30" cabinet). It is supported by a sink strapping system - originally it was just attached to the granite with adhesive, though, which is the standard method used by most counter fabricators. When sink manufacturers recommend a minimum cabinet size for a particular size of sink, that is with the idea that the sink will not be resting on the cabinet at all. So it doesn't matter if your sink is smaller. Perhaps your installer was thinking in terms of providing additional support like a strap system would be, but they aren't aware of those products (there is also a rigid metal frame product out there)....See Morewritersblock (9b/10a)
