Venetian, Roman, Bohemian, silver overlay and Contemporary American. I worked in a Dallas, TX art gallery called Carlyn Galerie many years ago. My FAVOURITE job ever (well, after the antiques auction gallery in New York). Go on their website carlyngalerie.com and look for artist Charles (Chuck) Savoie. He does contemporary works in the old Venetian style. Very cool stuff. If you ever add contemporary to your collection, they are probably the most knowledgeable people I know. They stay away from names like Chihuly and focus on the "rising stars". The Fuzzy Monsters took a lot of work to get. They are Chocolate Persians that came from Pawdance.com near Ft Worth, TX. If you go to their website, Dmitri is the "cover kitty" as a baby. If you go to "new homes, page 2" you can see both as babies! Oh, and some of my pics are up (Welcome to MY Home!) LOL As I typed that I knew it was going to confuse people and almost left it out. Ok let's see if I can manage a mental picture. First, you need door with a hole in them (some don't have them) but let's assume you have those. I took metal cloths hangers (you could use any strong wire but I'd seen this in an automotive shop so I copied it) and looped one end over a board that I'd layed crossways on the garage rafters. (So you have the lower hanging portion of the eves...the part that forms the ceiling if you put sheet rock on it?) I layed that small board (maybe a 1x1 type thing...scrap wood) and hung one end of the fully extended hanger (taken apart) from the board shaped like a hook, then the other end would have a hook as well which you'd draw through the door hole. You don't want that door hole hook end to extend too far out of the door, and you want to kind of fix it manually so that the metal isn't touching the door where it hangs out. This all sounds more confusing than it is, but I'm trying to cover my bases. Basically you want to be able to paint around it without leaving a mark on the door. It only took me one door to fuss this out while working on it, then it was easy. If the door is really large or heavy, two hooks might be necessary, but I prefer to do those on saw horses. This only works for the painting portion by the way...cleaning or sanding (which you know I don't do) is too rough and will pull the doors off the hangers. The reason I like to paint doors this way is that I can get the primer on pretty easily on both sides (do one full side on all the doors you have to do, then do the second side on all the doors). If you are doing them laying down, you really need to wait 24 hours before rolling them over to do the second side because the paint won't cure and they'll stick to the surface you're working with, or take impressions from it. You want to be careful not to have too much paint on your brush as you work so that you don't drip, especially right close to the wires, but that's how you should paint a door anyhoo (with a reasonable amount of paint but never dripping off the brush). Did that explain it???? It probably wouldnt work if you don't have the cross rafter beam things (I used every name I could think of...I'm not a builder LOL) that are down at 8 foot or so. Unless you use two hangers looped together or buy actual strong wire to work with.

Thank you all for the great responses! It's true, frou-frou has been around a long time in some magazines (I miss the old Victorian magazine) but lately it seems to be showing up more in "regular" magazines. I think Bellaflora is right, when it's time to hide out, it's much nicer to do it under the "biggest fluffiest ruffliest quilt" you can find...great description :) I do not have little ones, unless you count my kitties, but I think wine is an acceptable alternative to tea, especially in a crystal wine glass (LOL) Poshspace- Great time to remodel your bathroom, lots of wonderful ideas out there. The magazine is the current issue of BHG's Beautiful Baths. I'm not really a huge pink fan (more of a lavender fan with a little pink) but it's so nice to see cheerful, fun colors again! Cooperbailey- Fairies are fun and I love the idea of putting some fairy things in the garden. The nieces love it and with all their Tinkerbell stuff, they can dress up and play in the garden. We had a small garden this year, but plan a bigger one for next year. Oakleyok- I'm with you there. I wasn't really girlie when I was young either, so maybe we're making up for lost time :)

I confess I didn't think about the white part. Since in my kitchen it would go in the center not along the cabinets where I cook it isn't likely to get much in the way of spills. But I do have a black cat! No messy boys in my house either. My kitchen really isn't country anymore, either, and truth be told it probably wouldn't fit the style of the room anyway. Its wool but I have never seen a QVC rug so I don't know the qaulity, either. They sure made it look purdy on the video though! I had me yearning for country again. :) Sue
