you should definitely take that up with the carpenter.. how adjustable they are depends on the kinds of hinges you have.. the ones i have adjust up down in our side to side.. whatever.. so you could fix that problem fairly easily..

Most concealed hinges are 3 way adjustable. Side by side hinged frameless doors don't rub so yours probably just need some fine tuning. I have to say by the time you put a knob or handle on the one by the fridge panel you might have gotten better access if the hinge was on the other side. I would also worry about damaging the fridge panel with the handle.

You have had such a hard time I hated to say it but just in case it wasn't a deliberate choice it wouldn't be that hard to fix it before the handles go on. If it was purposeful just ignore, what he hell do I know.

The cabs look fantastic, hang in there it's going to turn out great.

Caryscott, there was originally supposed to be a little bit of filler there that would have helped with having room for the door handle... One of the things my carpenter decided to redesign on the fly.

I'll ask him if it's possible to turn the door around - I guess I'd be stuck with the holes in the wood from where the hinges are currently attached?

Ugh, I really wanted the door opening that way.

Fridge panel is 24" deep. Cabinet in question is 12" deep with 15" wide door. So the end of the door should stick out 3" from the fridge panel, leaving plenty of room for the handle...no?

You are correct, if I had looked more closely before typing it is actually pretty obvious the door is wider - sorry about that.

Depending on whether the hinges are Salice or Blum, there is a small clip that goes in the hinges and limits the swing from 135 deg to 90 deg. It is made for Salice hinges, but it will fit Blums as well. If your issue is having adjacent doors swing open too far and hit the one next to it, this could be your solution.

This isn't the door swinging too wide. Opening the door at all rubs against the door adjacent on the hinge side. I'm afraid in opening the doors all the time, I'll rub away the finish. (Not to mention, it's really unpleasant trying to open what feels like a slightly stuck door!)

The carpenter tried hard today to adjust the hinges. Some of it's better, and some worse... now the cabinet adjacent to the fridge panel opens fine, but the one next to that actually *catches* on it (lifts it open slightly). So by fixing the first door, he messed up the second.

He says there are problems with the doors on the cabinets that are attached to a not-quite-flat plaster wall that took a lot of shimming... there are about four adjacent doors there with problems. But the doors mentioned above are on the sink side, where the cabinets are attached to drywall.

Is it possible there's something wrong with the doors??? Were they manufactured with the wrong tolerances?

If he can't fix them, what are my alternatives??? I'm afraid they'll rub away the finish!
