Silgranit Super Single Sink Cabinet Size
Comments (8)socalusa - can you explain how your sink is mounted? jsweenc- I can't find where Blanco ever says what size cabinet is needed for the undermount applicaiton. Somewhere it said 36" exterior measurement is needed - however, after additional research, some sites say that is only for the drop-in application only, and 36" interior space is needed for undermount application. The interior of my 36" cabinet is only 34.5" and the sink is 33.5" top edge to top edge, and appears to be 30" interior bowl width. I can't find the specs for the exterior measurement of the bowl to figure how much space is left for mouting. The mounting clips are 2 3/4" long, so I would need 5 1/2" space to use them on all sides of the sink. Somewhere deep in the website, Blanco recommends using a wooden frame, but I'm not sure exactly how that would work. I hope this makes sense...how I love encountering a sink problem, after having the granite people this week say there is an issue with my island, and the carpenters say there is a problem with the steps...and oh yea, did I mention I'm almost 8 months pregnant! I thought that before I completely go off the deep end I would see what other GWer's did - lol!...See MoreKitchen Sink Advice - Stainless Steel, Single-Bowl
Comments (10)I have a stainless single-basin Vigo undermount that measures 32" wide by 19" deep...that will hopefully be installed today (by me). This style of sink doesn't have an island or an insert for the faucet to be mounted, so a 22" deep sink wouldn't work for "standard" installations -- our faucet needs about 3" of clearance behind it for the handle to operate fully. So, from the front of the counter, we have: 2 inches of counter lip (on the skinny side) 19 inches of sink 1 inch (approx.) between sink and faucet hole 2 inches (approx) for faucet body 3 inches (approx) rear clearance for faucet handle We had to make the counters 27" deep to accommodate -- adding another 3 inches of sink would make a 30" deep counter, which wasn't an option in our space....See MoreDouble Sink for 30" Cabinet - vs. Single...
Comments (7)kirkhall, I thought of that, and heavily explored putting either the prep sink or the main sink in the island. It's a decent amount more money to do it since this is a parlor (2nd) floor and the ceiling below it is in great shape so we don't want to replace it (or, ideally, our hardwood floor in the kitchen). in the end it came down to whether to have a small prep sink in the island and a 24" bowl next to the fridge, which would have been fine. and I just wanted an island without appliances, for the way we live and entertain. I hope I won't regret it. So the choice comes down to whether to do a single-bowl, 24 or 27 inch sink. I like the squared off versions like Kraus and Vigo have, that are undermount and deep. Or whether to do a double sink, probably with 20" bowl and 8" breakaway. I have since found a 28" double bowl sink that fits a 30", it's not squared off, but instead rounded off a bit and very round on the top - it's the Kraus KBU21 30-Inch Undermount 60/40 Double Bowl 16 gauge Kitchen Sink, Stainless Steel http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0042DBBZY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER and I could probably live with that. The guide says that it fits a 30 to 33" cabinet, so it's possible to do this 30" in a 30 cabinet. And I found a more squared off option that's 28" wide and fits on a 30" cabinet - it's pricier than the Kraus - the Franke LAX16030 Largo Double Bowl 18G 28X17.5X8 Sink Boxed - neither are cheap but the Kraus comes with faucet for the same price (give or take). And by the way, Ikea has a great 29" or so double sink that fits on a 31" or so cabinet - what is that about when it only sells 30 and 36 cabinets? it's a nice sink and I'd consider doing it - ironically enough, if I go wtih a non=IKEA cabinet and can have a 31" base....See Moresmall kitchen trade-offs - stove vs sink sizes
Comments (18)In a small condo, are you really going to be entertaining/cooking that much at the same time all that often? Would rather have a standard sized stove and deep double stainless steel sink myself. On the rare occasion you need more cook space, you could always cook some things in the microwave, toaster oven, crock pot, and invest in a "spare" burner -- maybe even invest in a small rolling cart for storing and even using it and the microwave or other electrical appliances so they can be parked in the edge of the dining area out of the way and not take up counter space while you don't need them.. https://www.macys.com/shop/product/cuisinart-cb-60-countertop-double-burner?ID=8299115&pla_country=US&CAGPSPN=pla&cm_mmc=Google_SH_PLA_Cookware--GS_Cookware_PLA_Cuisinart--293719126719--pg1051978847_c_kclickid_d6ffa9d8-bede-4dd5-9d77-7d4eb7b21959_KID_EMPTY_1546922786_61770717747_293719126719_pla-979136891448_86279172006USA__c_KID&trackingid=509x1051978847&m_sc=sem&m_sb=Google&m_tp=PLA&m_ac=Google_SH_PLA_Cookware&m_ag=Cuisinart&m_cn=GS_Cookware_PLA&m_pi=go_cmp-1546922786_adg-61770717747_ad-293719126719_pla-979136891448_dev-c_ext-_prd-86279172006USA&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7I-Kh-LJ7QIVCo2GCh32yAYsEAQYAyABEgK6gvD_BwE...See MoreGracie
