I like the larger size for knobs.

FWIW I went with larger. I think smaller are prettier; I went with larger anyway and I don't regret it. But it's your judgement call: form or function.

To me more important then the diameter of a knob is the projection and that is seldom mentioned on this site. For instance I have large hands and long always painted fingernails, my cupboards stay very clean with a knob with a projection of at least 1.25 inches.

I personally like the larger.

I like the looks of the 1.25" knobs but since my doors on my kitchen do not have knobs I have no idea which would be better for opening doors. I plan to put knobs on new kitchen doors and then I will have the same decision to make but you wanted my opinion and this is the best I can do which looks better. Let us know what you decide and please post finished pictures.

What paint color are you painting the cabinets? I am assuming this since there are two painted boards and I would love to know since I am still going back and forth on buying new painted white cabinets or cherry cabinets (paid to have someone measure correctly today) or painting my oak veneered cabinets. But yours looks like new Maple cabinets that will soon be painted a pretty shade of white.

I like the look of the 1 1/4" better. I have 1 1/4" RH Grafton knobs and I love the way they function, too.

Thanks everyone! Lynn...Oh, I wish my cabinets were new! Thank you! They are my old cabinets that I'm keeping (don't have the budget to replace). I'm actually stuck on the color, but I think I've finally made a final decision on my stone so that should make it easier. I'm going with jet mist leathered granite. The slabs have lots of white swirls in them and I think that I need a pretty bright white cabinet.

I also like the looks of the smaller knob, but the acid test is opening and closing those doors with each of the knobs. How great that you have a hands-on test set up! If you don't have a distinct preference for the feel of one over the other, then go with looks. Otherwise, go with function.

Stephct, I know you will be happy with the 1 1/4 size! Thanks for letting me know that you are painting your cabinets. I wish my cabinets would be solid wood and I wish I had no soffit and had full overlay doors. I am still waiting for final prices and then if I have to paint them, I will be using BM Cloud White. It was a touch call between BM Simply White and BM Cloud White for me but the granite I like and want to get eventually looked slightly better to my eyes with the Cloud White.

P.S. Stephct, your cabinets look like solid Maple and not grainy so they should do great with paint and since they have full overlay doors, I know you will be happy you kept your old cabinets. I wish my old ones looked so nice.
