Please help me select a kitchen backsplash
Comments (0)Hi, I need help with my kitchen backsplash. Its a transitional to contemporary style home currently under construction. The cabinets will be omega white uppers and smokey grey lowers. CS London Grey countertop. Here are two backsplash choices I have so far. 1) The flooring we have selected is seen in above pic. (and) 2) I am also open to other suggestions. I initially considered glass sheet, but those are not going to work well behind my cooktop. I also do not like subway tiles. Prefer minimal grout lines. The tile in the second pic- the tile would go all the way from the countertop to the bottom of the uppers- so I won't have any horizontal grout lines. I don't like the backsplash looking too busy. Do you guys have any suggestions for me? I am finding this super hard and I think my brain is fried after all the decisions making thus far! TIA....See MoreMaster bedroom help .. Comments (51)I'm not a fan of any of those options...for various reasons. Mostly because the style/scale as well as the tone doesn't look like it would compliment the bed.....although without links hard to know. The Bernhardt nightstands in your pic from Haverty's are 40 W x30 H x21 D. That is why they don't look dwarfed by the bed. Do you have room to do something like the pic Penny posted? Basically a simple open rectangle with a sturdy leg? Another thing I'd consider is taking a look at kids' dressers/desks. Some are even similar in size and shape to the Bernhardt nightstands.... https://www.perigold.com/furniture/pdp/smiling-hill-4-drawer-dresser-sta6494.html?piid=17238112 Another approach would be multi-tiered side tables, not these exact ones obviously, but again something with enough heft and presence to play nicely with that bed....See MoreTile samples are here - please help with selection
Comments (34)@Jan Moyer - I see your point. The problem I have is that one contractor measured around 30 sq feet. He got busy on another job so another one came in and measured 47 sq feet. I measured to check and got 33 sq feet - so who's right - lol. That's why I wanted to be able to order 20% more and then if the 47sq feet was incorrect I wanted to have the option of returning the tile without a 30% restocking fee. I really appreciate all the helpful comments from everyone. I initially would have made a mistake going with a light gray tile (well gray was in- but was definitely not "in" for my counter color - I could not see it at the time). From there I went through all kinds of options. I think selecting backsplash is not easy. My husband finally said just go with what you like and we can change it later if you end up hating it - it's not that expensive. I like the longer flat subway tile you showed - so that's an option. The bevel subway is out of stock with no more in transit- so that one is out. I also love the Zellige look. But with all the comments on texture against my granite I see how the 2 by 8 in a brick pattern would be too choppy in texture and finish. However the 4 by 4 stacked layout is still a contender. Handmade look, texture for interest, shine when it catches the light (in my lower light kitchen), neat stacked look against the granite, tile size proportionate to space and great reviews on multiple sites. It's a well made 9mm Spanish tile that will provide subtle contrast against off white cabinets in the future....See MorePlease help me select a fresh, bright color for my kitchen walls
Comments (12)If you want to brighten up a space get better lighting first before choosing any wall color. If it is in the budget get some pot lights or if not then a good track light with at least 5 heads all the bulbs in either choice should be LEDs 4000K then go to wotk on wall color. Yes I think anew simpler backsplash would be a good start , removing all the clutter the next step nothing on top of the cabinets and as little as possible on the counters will instantly make the space feel brighter .I love a pale gray/ green for a perfect neutral with wood and white trim . Gray Wisp is a good one and if you just want it lighter then cut it 25% i would stay awy from whites or creams for sure....See Moreclarettekim
