Sage color wall in too bright kitchen

I am still having a hard time picking a warm wall color for my kitchen for the walls that face East. Creams turn corn kernel yellow. I would like to use SW Svelte Sage that I also have in my bedroom that looks good with the same wood work that I have in my kitchen but I think it will also look washed out on the East wall and even some of the walls near it. I have 5 windows in the kitchen so it's very light and bright. Would you think tinting the sage paint darker for the walls that get the most sun will make it look ok in the morning and early afternoon when the sun is coming in the strongest? Anyone do that with their rooms?

You mean, having some walls (the ones opposite the window, that get most sun) painted slightly darker than other walls? I would think that would look kind of odd in the evenings when it's all indoor lighting, unless you went a full shade or two darker and made it really an accent wall. But you know your space, if it seems right, then do it.

We have SW Blonde in the majority of our rooms. Our great room flows into the dining room, separated by a brick archway. The dining room has large windows facing the side and back yards (we put plantation shutters on them, but I keep them open most of the time.) The Blonde works great for us, definitely not too bright, more of a neutral. Our two love seats are also a brownish/olive color and it works well.

For starters I would ask for your money back. His problems ( wife ) cannot translate into yours. I'm a bit confused about the color, your saying they are a "shade to dark" but calling them bright. If they are to dark you cannot lighten them. If they were to light then MAYBE you could do something, but not with any sort of confidense that the new finish will adhere to what he has already applied. There is another thread a few post down that basically has the same problem. To do it correctly , you need to start over . Strip, sand, stain, and finish. I'm happy to look at the pix for you or you can post them here.

Friedajune, thanks! I love the countertops so much! The refrigerator opens to the left. It's a small kitchen. Next home, I will have a big kitchen and big bathrooms. Here is a photo of the kitchen. The stove is the last white appliance. When it starts "going" we'll replace it with stainless steel. A friend, who is an artist, suggested an aqua/gray. I've tried to play around with the Sherwin Williams Visualizer to paint the walls, but the tools act up for me (or it's the user)

thank you so much for your response! The floors are quarter sawn white oak that will be stained a warm med tone walnut color. nothing too dark. I did realize when i posted this that my cabinets will touch the ceiling so I decided to go with the same white throughout most of the house on the ceilings, Decorators White. On the top floor, which is our master bedroom suite I think I'm going to use the Chantilly lace. It's a bit darker up there and I'm trying to make it as bright as possible. Thats the color of our vanity in the masterbath, so I may just do all the trim and ceilings that color. That floor is a clean break from all the other walls and trim, so it won't look like a mistake! Truthfully the place was a mess before renovation (we bought it that way) so I really just want everything clean and white!! I may end up doing what you suggested with the walls...still wishing for white, but don't I can steer away from the Decorators white without making the cabinets look dingy.

2 shades darker is Eclipse, which IS pretty saturated. 1 shade down is Connected Gray, which is much more saturated than Svelte Sage also & may have a different enough value that it may work on the east-facing walls. I LOVE dark colors, but I'd really have to observe the space in different lights to fully guide you.

I think the east walls are the perfect place for an accent wall color.... We have lots of windows and skylights in our new reno and love the dark purple we did on 2 of the walls. The lavender on the other 2 (very open plan in the back of our house) is lovely, but lacks the panache the deep color has. If you have good light and can get away with a deep rich color, I'd say go for it! If your natural light is only average, I'd be more careful about darkening too far.
