Photos of Miele integrated custom panel fridge please

I've bought a Miele 36" bottom freezer fridge with the custom door panel. It will be installed next to an IKEA double oven cabinet. The IKEA cabinets are frameless. I'm trying to figure out if I should install the fridge with side gables exposed as in the picture or if the panels can cover the side gables. In that case it would look like where any 2 cabs meet when you use frameless cabs. I'd really appreciate it if you could measure your upper and lower panels as well.

I have that fridge.

Here's a pic. One side has the side panel level with the fridge face. The other has it next to the cabs. My cabs are frameless too.

The measurements are exactly what is in the miele specs (and don't let any silly installer say "I need 36 1/4" not 36" - it is exactly 36!!!) Never mind that my floors aren't level... that's your problem.

It did take 2 install trips. Don't even bother having trying to get your contractor to do it. There are zero instructions about how to put on that panel.

I should have noted - there is no side panel on the left side between the pull out pantry. There is basically just a right side and a plywood roof my contractor made.

We had 6 inches at the top which were filled by 2 3" pieces which were meant for the island furniture bottom trim.

Hi Folks I know it was literally years ago but I just wanted to chime in and say what a great discussion thread this is/was. So many claims are made by sellers and "makers" - for what it's worth, I am going the opposite direction with my project for our own home. I am building new doors that will look like 1930's commercial chiller units, with big hinges and handles as well as adding several personal touches to the whole lot, like refashioned Chrysler wings emblems etc . The two fridges I am using are a liebherr wine/freezer unit and a Jenn Air Alaska model - see attached link and click on AA kitchen project .... might cause some heart palpitations for some, but perhaps a smile for others. BTW In one of my designs I overcame the issues around the toe kick by replacing the floor under the fridge with an insect proof perforated metal grill ... still strong enough to take the fridge and enabled cool air to vent up from the underfloor. If you look at the post I just listed last night titled "Finally, granite is installed", it will show our D/W on the right side of the island. We used a single panel and when closed, it matches the rest of the island perfectly. The door is slightly open in the pic. When we have people over for the first time, they are always asking where the dishwasher is thinking we don't have one. Our frig is not integrated. I wasn't willing to pay the price for that since we already had a stainless fridge.

I agree with Lisab313. Our panel is a bit wider and taller than the actual dishwasher. It blends right in with the cabinetry. Here's a spec sheet for panel dimensions for at least one model, just to get an idea. Yes we are putting them side by side and probably don’t want the panels. Yes we are getting 2 dishwashers. I really like the Miele with 3D cutlery tray at the top. I suppose we could still get 1 Miele dishwasher with the Thermador package but if we were to go with a 30 inch Thermador fridge and 24 inch Thermador freezer with external dispenser, with stainless panels and professional handles, would be about $5k more than the SubZero 48 inch builtin fridge for us. And Thermador like Subzero does not have printshield finish. And new Thermador freezer with external dispenser has no shelves on the door so less storage. So even though we really considered Thermador for everything, switched to Miele or SubZero/Wolf because we also want a combisteam oven which apparently are better by Miele and Wolf. Anyways, think I am leaning to Subzero fridge/freezer but worried will be sorry not just getting everything Miele. Miele’s prices just went up today too even though also started back up 10 percent off deal. Miele just seems like excellent quality and ease of use, even though probably more drawn to professional look of Subzero/Wolf. So confused!!!!!

Thanks for replying Marcydc. Your doors look very nice. On the left side of your fridge it looks like the side panel of the niche doesn't show. Is this because the installers attached the fridge on the left side to the pantry cupboard or to another 5/8" panel that is covered up by the door panel when the door is closed. You had to have an end panel on the right side b/c that side is exposed. I'll have filler strip there between the fridge and a wall so I won't need a finished side panel unless the front edge shows when the door is closed. I'm having the very dark IKEA cabs installed. What I'm trying to figure out is if the front edges or sides that form the niche are visible when the doors are closed or if they are covered by the door panel in the same way that frameless cabinet doors cover up the cabinet box. If they only show when the door is open I could just use the standard hi cab cupboard sides which are white. If the panel forming the niche is not covered by the door panel then I have to buy 2 of the way more expensive dark finished panels.

Since they charge $450 to install I want to make sure everything is prepared correctly.

Hello sandca,

The left side of the fridge is attached to the pantry itself. There is no extra panel in their covered up by a door. The cabs are full overlay.

I'll try to get a pic of that when my camera battery finishes charging.

I see what you are interested in now. Specs have the niche at exactly 36" and the door at 35 3/4. The door is in the niche and there is 1/8" on each side.

I suppose you could make your door wider - adding on the thickness of your side panel. I'd check with the Miele folks though and see if there are any hinge issues with that (but it sounds like your hinge is on the filler side so there shouldn't be a problem there).
