tip-out tray in bathroom?
Comments (8)If your toothbrush is out in the open, technically, like everything else it is exposed to bacterial aerosol when someone flushes the toilet. Since the toothbrush is wet and already has bacteria on it, it may retain more than a dry surface. However, since I haven't read of any deaths from people brushing their teeth, its probably not really a big deal, just someone's research. (Actually people with severe gingivitis or periodontal disease create a bacteremia whenever they brush, so they could potentially die from forcing their own bacteria into their bloodstream if they had certain existing conditions and a screwed up immune system) Oh well, way OT. I think the tray could be great with the papertowel for blotting....See MoreTilt out sponge drawer?
Comments (26)Hi everyone this is a really old post but with a ton of tilt out lovers so wanted to ask if anyone can share a SIDE picture of theirs? I'm curious to see if they all tilt out or if they sit completely flush with the other cabinets. I want to include on in my new kitchen but everyone keeps advising me against it for it doesn't sit flush, they aren't used much anymore, etc. I use ours a LOT (we don't put wet items in there so no issues) and I cannot imagine being without it. Thanks...See MoreSink Tip Out Trays... Yes or No?
Comments (13)I have the same as rmlanza, and treat mine as she does. In one side, I keep my eyeglass-cleaning supplies. I open that side every morning when I clean my glasses. The other side will get more use when the hummingbirds return, because I keep my bottle brush and the stopper in that side with unused sponges. I scrub my hummingbird feeders with a brush before refilling them with sugar water. When we replaced our kitchen cab doors/drawers, we also replaced cab doors/drawers in our home's two original bathrooms. Tip-outs were added there, too. Those bathrooms belong to our college-age kids, but they use their tip-outs for toothpaste and such when they're home. I find the tip-outs to be quite handy. Oft-used items are easily stored near a sink without having to bend over to retrieve those items out from under the sink cabinet....See MorePossible to do a tip-out at sink with inset cabinets?
Comments (15)Like Ann says above, the reason tipouts can go wonky over time is because you always open them with one hand yet they often have two pulls. Hence you're always opening them 'crooked' and stressing the tipout drawer. The solution is easy -- put a handle in the center, or even better, put in two separate tipouts so that you aren't pulling open a large 36" drawer with one hand all the time. I did two separate tipouts this go-round and I love love love it! Sorry but I do not understand comments about grossness or breeding grounds; it's simply not true. There is air circulation in a tipout tray, no different than if you use a tray on the inside of your cupboard. And the plastic inserts pop out and can go in the dishwasher. I am happy that I'll never have an ugly potscrubber or used sponge sitting out in my open sink again, :)...See Moresleevendog (5a NY 6aNYC NL CA)
