Is a sink tip-out worthwhile?
Comments (23)I have one under my cooktop. I have...um...skewers I think in there. And the cord to the electric skillet. Don't use it a lot, but there's stuff in there so it's doing something. I'll try to get a real drawer in there when we remodel, but if I can't, any usable space is usable space. We have one in front of the sink, too, but the plastic tray is missing. I do stick the drain plug in there, resting against the sink. I guess I'd use it but more important to me is getting the sink as far forward as possible. But again, if it doesn't impact sink position, it's space! I wouldn't keep damp things in there, or frequently used items. And I didn't think enough of it to replace the missing tray (even though they are pretty cheap)....See Moreinset cabinets - dishwasher sticking out?
Comments (6)We have a Bosch with inset cabinets and while it extends beyond the cabinet frame, I don't think it looks odd at all. I never even thought about it until reading your post. I know that feeling of wanting to verify and see something when an expert you are paying is telling you to do something different, and just wanting to make sure that what you choose will fit well in the overall look. Honestly, this one is such a minor thing, and I am sure that no one will notice it at all. You have to decide if it will bother you, but I'd personally rather have the overhang. I have 1 1/4" overhang and the door of the DW sits flush with the edge of the granite. (I just looked at the specs and the DW itself is not as deep as the cabinets so it must be pulled out to sit that way.) This is the best I can do for pics right now. We are away from home while the floors are being done. If you want a better view, e-mail me from my page and I'll get it for you. HTH!...See MoreSink tip-out doesn't fit - what to do?
Comments (14)I'm confused - how do you have a sink without counters? Assuming your sink is undermount, will the section of counter in front of the sink really be so narrow? Mine is 3.5", only about .5" of which overhangs the cabinet door fronts. I thought that everything that could go wrong or be mis-measured in my kitchen was, but this wasn't. But now I understand why my GC didn't include tilt outs from the beginning when I thought they were standard and easy. I guess sometimes they aren't....See MoreRight size tip-out tray for kitchen sink cabinet
Comments (2)I need to order 2 tip out trays. One tray will be for my kitchen sink cabinet. The other tray will be for my bath sink cabinet (I will measure this one later). The tip out trays I want to order have a depth of 2.125". After googling, I found out that .125" actually means 1/8" (the things you learn on the Internet these days). So the depth of the tray is 2 1/8". In terms of the rectangular opening on my kitchen sink cabinet (where the tip out tray will go), the distance between the back of the front slab and the sink is 2" at the top and 2 1/4" at the bottom. The difference in distance between the top and bottom is due to the sink shape. My feeling is that I can still order the tip out tray because it's shaped at an angle and is narrower at the top. Am I right in my assumption?
