Your DW may be humidifying your cabinets. Query to DW makers.
Comments (9)I agree it is hard to believe. It is not_true that steam passes through a condenser coil, since that implies all or most steam. It IS true that a small small fractional amount of steam gets into a condenser device (which can look like a coil), where it condenses into water, drains into a hose, which then can be left UNconnected to anything. So, wa8b, the way you've rephrased it is almost exactly as many manufacturers support people have said it over the phone, although they also say it is not much H2O at all, not much at all, and I believe them as they say that almost all the H2O condenses inside_the_tub, and I believe them too. Your phrasing may be misleading (to yourself or to others) as the steam does NOT_all pass through a condenser coil, no. Very little gets into this condenser ("coil"). A small small amount of vapor will come out of the tub and into the vent if your unit is equipped with one. The vent is the focus here. The vent is open at the end of the wash cycle to let Some Steam escape into a condensation device. Its purpose is not to pull the steam through a condensing coil nor to vent all the steam into the air. This (fractional) portion of condensate that goes into the small device at the vent does not go back inside the tub. According to the manufacturers I have contacted. -- Where does this small amount of H2O go next? -- How much is it? These have been my questions that I have asked in many places for many weeks. Where this "vent condensation exhaust tube" goes to is an interesting subject. This tube can be called a drain. Drain. Calling it a drain tube or "a drain" does not mean it is connected to the machine's one and only drain tube that goes into the house drain (the main drain, the plumbing drain.) Using this minor confusion some companies have allowed many salespeople to get confused and to start saying "it goes into the drain." Which means to them that it goes into the plumbing drain. In many cases they are wrong. ________________________________ Summary: Yes, some condensate (not much) is allowed "... to evaporate into some ... area outside the..." (tub), and yes it can drain or evaporate in an "...area surrounded by cabinetry..." So, yes I am concerned enough to want to know what will happen when I buy my next DW now for my upcoming new kitchen reno now. Yes, the bulk of the water condenses on the tub and drips down into the sump area; it slides down the tub walls and goes into the sump where it's pumped out through the machine's drain hose. So at the end of a cycle most of the water is inside the tub, either in the sump area, or clinging to racks and interior surfaces. About "the further study that is being done" = further study means further examination by my eyeballs and my persistent questioning. I hope to have a little more feedback from people before I name names. Bear with me. This is caution. I have take pictures and can post them later. I am not an expert so I hope I have phrased my descriptions correctly. Work with me on this and tell me if how I have phrased it makes sense. I've tried my best to be precise and neutral. I think the vent and condensation chamber is only for excess steam pressure or to lower the temperature of the tub steam air down below the condensation point. David...See MoreDC area cabinet maker
Comments (12)The only decent frameless RTA cabinet out there is by Innovations in Ga. They have a online shopping cart website that dealers hate. I have set my account up with them as one of my sales reps picked them up recently. I did one kitchen of theirs a few years ago not knowing it. (long story was getting things from a wholesaler years ago who I thought was the company that warehoused innovations. I did not know they got it from innovations and marked it up to me) It was a decent cabinet. Bridgewood is still one of the best options out there if you want to look at frameless. It costs less then Ultrakraft and is custom. Meaning you can specify cabinet size in width and length to the 1/16". Dealer catalog is over 800 pages long. They will not build anything you can dream but they are more then enough for the needs of the majority of projects out there. I am going to submit the Reston kitchen for the kitchen of the month contest Bridgewood has. I am sure we will win it. Bridgewood has a lot of dealers in the DC area. Ultrakraft is at Fergusons, Europa which is a sister company is available at the kitchen and bath showroom of Micheal And Son called studio 57. Studio 57 gives a little better price. My dealer cost for the Reston kitchen was about 12k I figured it out in Geppetto (now called Touchstone as of a week ago they merged and changed names) was 21k which is one of the lowest priced truly custom lines on the market today. I do not think there is a company out there that is lower priced as a national company than bridgewood for framed and frameless cabinets particularly one that allows custom sizes....See MoreCustom Cabinets in DC area?
Comments (5)HomeCraft Cabinetry in Forestville, MD I'm in Virginia, and they've done kitchens all over our neighborhood. Our contractor usually used another custom company out of the area, and even he was blown away by the quality of our cabinets. Plus the owners could not be nicer, more helpful, or more responsible. Sorry, gushing. But I am really, really happy. http://www.homecraftcabinetry.com/kitchens.html...See MoreBay Area, CA custom cabs?
Comments (10)Ugh! Entire 2paragraph review lost. Thanks to ipad and GW. Sigh. Long story short, look up Gao's Group in south san fran. judy speaks excellent english. Bring your pictures and wishlist, or plans from another quote. You show it to them, they'll build it! I dont think they can handle intricate designer kitchens, but honestly, if you're building one of those, then you're not too concerned with cost. My quote from a brentwood cabinet maker, cant remember name, was over $40,000, because for dovetail, they only do some high end wood box. Gao was just over $20,000. Included dovetail, undermount softclose, full extension, and 1/3 glass uppers, to simulate stacked cabs. He gave me his cell phone, so for questions, i call, and he actually answers! They're doing another project in the south bay, los altos, so he's been around quickly when i call. I'm pretty lame at negotiating, but got them to take 5% off. I figure, i'd rather have them be more willing to come over and answer my contractor's questions, than worry about that last 5%. I saw the work they did at the other house, and was satisfied. Im very happy so far with my cabs! If you do work with him, he'll prob send you over to my house. :) Best of luck with your cabinetmaker search!...See MoreCEFreeman
