Anyone with gray paint &white cabinets? Need help with tile.

My den connects to the kitchen. The floors are engineered wood. I'm very nervous about putting wood in the kitchen but can't find a tile that compliments the grey walls, white cabinets and granite which is volga blue (not installed yet,but from a distance looks black). I'm drawn to grey tile but it looks like a huge contrast next to the wood floors. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try finding porcelain or ceramic tile that looks like wood.

I don't know if this will help at all, but this is what my mom did. And, I think it looks great. We drug her wood sample everywhere (really, everywhere) to find a match for tile to the colors of the wood. She wants everything to flow, which it does. Looking in from other rooms, you can't tell that there is even a difference from the wood to the tile. It looks like all the same color. If I were to find tile for my kitchen, I would do the same thing. It looks seamless. I'm eventually going to have to do it anyway. Some ding dong put wood in the bathroom and did a really crappy job at it (like not pulling up the toilet... let's just cut a circle out for it). I thought that I might go with a marble or something, but I think that it's too much of a contrast too. See if you can find a similar colored tile, I think you'd be happier. Good luck!

I've been working on just the right white for months, and have many, many painted samples! What I have found is that the color looks different in EVERY room, so what works for some here, may not work for you! My kitchen is really sunny and bright, I found BM Simply white stark. I really like BM white dove & SW Alabaster, and find them very close to the same color, with a same hint of a gray undertone. I am afraid though... that it may still read stark white in my kitchen. I have SW Pearly white on my walls now... from the chip, it is much darker than I would have picked, but I picked this because SW color matched it from a cabinet sample I liked. I have a whole wall painted, and sometimes it looks perfect, just a soft off white, other times it looks a bit dingy. I'm leaning a bit more to SW Creamy (it matched another cabinet). White and yellow.. two very hard colors to chose, but I think you need to get samples and see large size samples in your space. The colors change dramatically from one room to another!

@funcolors they did tell me today that they could try to match it. I guess it's hard though since they are using conversion varnish and they don't guarantee an exact match. I can pick one color for them to match and paint me a sample. If I need another paint match they want to charge $85 since they have to buy paint each time. If you had to pick Simply White or White Dove, would you lean towards one over the other with the taj?

Are your floors stained on-site hardwood or did they come pre-finished? I’m asking because I really like how your kitchen has turned out - and I’m thinking about being a copycat (as my mom used to tell me - “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery“ - every time my younger sister would “copy” me - ex. I cut 6” off my hair - 4 days later my sister got the same exact haircut). I might have missed it - but what did you go with for your backsplash? Oh - and I know that you already had your countertops but . . . Are they quartz or marble? Everything really looks nice. I may go a with a little “moodier” blue on my island - but I really like yours too. i just looked back through your photos - the blue island has so many looks depending upon light!

We have a floor with black and 2 shades of gray next to our wood floors. It looks fine... It is an open floor plan and the floors help define the rooms.
