How many pulls on 36' pan drawers?
Comments (20)Please do not compare a bedroom dresser's hardware to kitchen cabinet hardware...there's no comparison...kitchen hardware is going to be much better. Kitchen drawers will have better quality glides, they will be more stable, they will be able to handle much more weight, etc. I use one hand to open my kitchen drawers all the time...even the ones w/two pulls...there have been no adverse affects on the drawer hardware. I have Blumotion...a very good line of quality hardware. The real issue is what is the quality of your drawer glides? Lower quality will most likely have problems, but high quality will not. Muspic...ask your cabinet maker what manufacturer/brand of drawer glides s/he uses......See MorePlease Show Me Your 36'' Drawers
Comments (23)Don't have pix yet (soon!), but I used two 4" pulls on my 36-inch and 33-inch drawers (one pull on my 24-inch and 27-inch drawers). The double pulls give a "furniture"-like appearance, as you've seen in others' photos. If I could have found a more traditional-looking 8"-10" pull that I considered affordable (I needed LOTS of them), I think I would have gone that route. But I don't regret having used the double-pull scheme, which actually had been recommended by the cabinet guy (and he wasn't selling the pulls)....See Morewhere to place pulls on drawer fronts, centered or not?
Comments (33)Two Pulls vs One Pull...It's been almost 6 years and even though I frequently use just one pull to open a drawer, I have only had to adjust a couple of drawers once or twice - and all I did was release the glides, push the drawer back in completely, and I was done (Blumotion glides). The majority of the drawers have had no issues at all in 6 years. The ones I've adjusted: the top drawer under my cooktop (36" wide) and the middle drawer in my 33" cabinet (Tupperware storage) - no other drawers have needed adjustment in 5+ years. Even if they all eventually need adjustment, it's so rare that it's a non-issue and, to me, two pulls look much better in a traditional or transitional kitchen. I think one pull, though, would look better in a "modern" kitchen. Vertical Alignment...Keep in mind that trying to adjust for perspective is a somewhat futile effort. Perspective varies depending on how tall the observer is! Someone 6' tall will have a different perspective than someone 5' tall. You would need to have adjustable pulls to make them "look" centered for everyone. I would either center them or do what ChefKev did - that way they are consistent and look "right" regardless of who is observing the drawers and their pulls. That said, this is so TKO!!!...See MorePot and Pan pull out choices (can't do drawers)
Comments (14)I would not like the drawer as shown, as I think you lose space. I do have (on purpose) a dual rollout, with the lower with more "depth" than the upper (and a drawer on top, as described above). You not only get the flexibility to store the larger pots on the bottom, you can get stacking racks for fry pans and such (I use pan separators). Plus, you gain a few extra inches in the back for handles that extend beyond the limits of the drawer. Of course, your pullouts also extend the full length of the drawer. I have way too much cookware for the arrangement shown above....See Morecookncarpenter
