1 or 2 Pulls per large (36' & 39') drawer??
Comments (11)Hi, Thanks for weighing in everybody! This is a tough one for me. My gut says that if I stay with these pulls that I should go with 2 just b/c of the size. Or I could pick a longer pull (mostly bar type, pretty, but a bit more modern than the look I'm going for) and go with one ---which seems like it'd be cleaner looking. . . buehl -- thanks for this advice! I'm going to ask the GC about the type of glides. Unfortunately my sweet cab guy has some medical issues, so I can't call him about this. florantha & jakebedy - this is a good point. With this size pull I will be stretching across. marcydc: thanks to your comment I relooked at the number of drawers in my plan and have 4 large drawers which people will see readily, and 4 large on the island facing the aisle, which people won't really notice, so I should be ok looks wise if I go with 2/drawer. bfenton & breezy: I found these pulls here in some gorgeous kitchen photos -of course!- and then ordered samples and love them -- even more than the RH Bistro pulls I started out wanting....See More30 and 36" Wide Drawers is there a rule for pull sizes?
Comments (14)I used the same sized single pulls on every drawer regardless of size. I have two 36" wide pots and pans drawers, and with the Blum hardware they are a breeze to open and close with one hand. The final reasoning I used to go with one pull was that usually if you're putting something away you would have something held in one hand and be pulling the drawer open with the other...if you had two pulls you would then be pulling the drawer open from one side, not perhaps the best solution ergonomically. I have also had custom made furniture built for the bedroom, and went with single pulls there too. Slides are really well-made nowadays, so easy to pull open. ( I like the look of the double pulls, just find I only use one anyways...)...See MoreDrawers vs Cabinet Rollouts
Comments (40)I was told Shenandoah doesn't have a 12-inch rollout. Odd that they do offer a 9 inch. A 9 is pegged for next to the d/w on the opposite wall. Open shelves are above that now. It seems narrow and hard to see some of the shelves on the rollout but they are adjustable. I might have to remove one. I agree the two drawer upper on the bank might need to go. That's a rolling pin, masher, or a box of saran. I probably can't afford to loose that space. I think I will nix the 2-tier utensil tray which looked so useful, doubling some space up. They are pricey and the shelf depth is so narrow (1-1/4 and 1-1/2). Maybe a luxury in a large kitchen but possibly not so useful as it looks so a waste for someone like me. I don't have a ton of flatware to worry about but lots of miscellaneous tools of various sizes and heights it seems. Mixing bowls, tupperware, larger pots and pans I don't use daily so would probably find comfortable in the closet or possibly a spot on the wall for some pans. Then again, I have to think of resale and make it functional for typical use. It's so hard when the amount of cabinetry is so limited. I haven't been cooking much the last decade but had enjoyed it and was wanting to get more into it again. I expect my needs to change so want to plan for what generally works and to maximize what space there is here and its flexibility. I wish that d/w wall weren't so awkward and could do an upper cabinet without a hitch. Not too sure about that right now....See MoreHow big a pull on a 36" drawer base
Comments (8)^yeah that IKEA has some nice hardware, and not expensive. You can also search online for good deals on name brand stuff. A&H Turf had a fantastic (!!) price on my Jeffrey alexander HW... ended up about the same cost as what I would have paid at HD or Lowes, but with so many more sizes in the line to pick from. CabinetParts.com also had great prices on some really nice HW, and again you can choose from a lot of different sizes in each line. Tip - wherever you get your HW from, if its a metric measurement -- pick up Ikea's drilling template. $1.99 and so helpful!!...See Morestudio460
