You're welcome! Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed it, Pollyanna. It's hard to find pix of laundry and mud rooms. They seem to be the poor step-child of regular decorating. Nevertheless, we all have them and I think they should be cheery. They're a good place to do the daring and fun decorating we wouldn't dare do elsewhere in the house.

Mine recently flooded, and is about to be put back together. So I'm going to have to figure out how to redo it.

Hi Oceanna, I am sure there are more than just the posters, the lurkers too, who soooo appreciate the time you take to post to the gallery. Before my computer stopped allowing me to see the gallery pics, I always went straight to those when in need of a new idea or inspiration. Like you, I'd go browse hours if I was in need of something different on my fireplace mantel or a different look for my coffee table. I was always able to find something in the gallery as opposed to my decor mags that are now filled with nothing but ads and very little detail decor. "Who's holding back on a stash of their own?" I emailed you when I was no longer able to get into the gallery to view pics or to post them. Although they are not a stash of my own home, the link I sent you had pics that could be interesting to some who are into different painting techniques. Don't know if you ever checked that email addy of yours but I was trying to contribute, honest, really I was! *s* Can't contribute with my own pics because there is not a single room in my home that is completed. Working on it daily but have a long way to go.

I think you were asking about hanging a curtain over the open shelving? And then letting the curtain hang down to the floor on the side to conceal the open shelving on the side? Something like this? Do you think you could get DH on board far enough to put up two wall mounted MDF open shelves instead of the wire shelving? Maybe something from IKEA? As for the curtain idea, I think the example above is charming. I think it's preferable to not go all the way down to the washer/dryer and I would not bother having it come all the way down to the floor on the side. I think it will just interfere with that door on the right side. As for tacking the fabric to the wall, if you hang a rod from the ceiling it's going to move, and I think that movement would likely pull the fabric away from the wall. With the shelving there, I'm not sure where you're planning on hanging your drying rack? It seems fairly large compared to your space. How strong is that door to the right of the dryer (and where does it lead to?) I'm wondering if a fold-down rack might fit better somewhere around that door?

We did this in a lodge building. This photo was taken before we got it finished, but we added six heavy wrought iron double coat hooks to the horizontal board 1/3 of the way from the top. We planned to add bins or baskets below, but it has become a convenient place to stash boots. Sorry I haven't taken an updated photo

A few updates and I will get some better pictures once i get everything moved out but i have the door into the bathroom cut in. I have been having trouble with Pella who we bought the door from which has put this on a 3 week hold so far as the issue still is not resolved. We are considering stacking the washer dryer. The location we were considering would be where the closest machine to the wall is. The plumbing in the wall was moved over to allow for the new door to the bath and I have some electrical lines that need installing for the new panel in the garage. Doing this while we have the walls open and since the electrical panels are below this. We have a few tiles we bought to see if we liked them but I am not sure i like any of them. I think if i were to pick it would be the darker 12x24. Any thoughts or opinions on tile, stacking of the machine or anything else here?

I hadn't seen the thread before. Figured my laundry room was't going to change. Don't skip this one like I did. Oceana comes up with more than just photos, there are tons of little tricks hiding in there.

Plus, so many great ideas for benches too, built in and furniture.

Loved all. Thanks Oceana and others who have shared.

Thanks Emagineer, you're always so sweet. I do try to put little extras in the threads, like good organizing ideas, and little vignettes where appropriate. I'm always interested in those myself.

Rosesstink, you're welcome! I'm redoing mine too, because of the flood.

MORAL OF THE STORY: If you haven't replaced the hot and cold intake hoses behind your washing machine in the last five years, do it! They're under constant pressure and when they get old they can blow. Not the sort of thing I ever thought about before. $20 for a package of new hoses. $500 deductible to me, and thousands to the insurance company to repair the damage to my laundry room, sewing room, and garage. Plus workmen tromping in and out day after day.
