cookingmama, Sounds great. I am updating all most of our appliances as well. Going with bluestar and electrolux like you. We have a warming drawer and I would encourage you to review how you would use it. If you are entertaining a great deal, or need to keep late dinners warm, maybe. We personally use ours to store potatoes and onions!!! Question if you will get the value out of it> Good luck

Beautiful choices! You do have excellent taste. Everything will look great and work great too. If you want quibbles, the Bertazzoni is probably more beautiful than functional (that is, the function isn't better than a GE or something and the extra cost is the beauty). If that's ok with you (paying for beauty not function) then it's worth it because it's lovely. I stopped looking at them when I heard they had some ignition issue, which would drive me nuts, and they don't have really high BTU's. Viking is coming out with an 18K BTU range that should be beautiful (not as beautiful, but they do come in pretty colors) and more functional than the Bert. But you probably know that already! I don't think you can go wrong with what you have. Those Miele dishwashers are so pretty, as are the Leibherr fridges. I have the Bosch washer and dryer you are getting and love them. I can't say they are super-special but they are nice. The Miele are way nicer and way pricier. I think that's true of all the Miele everything-- their fridges make me sad because everything else pales. But you know all this already, too! Post pics when you get them!

That salad sounds like my kind of salad, but I know some people just don't like anything but a more traditional kind. I find some just don't like fruit and nuts and such in their salads, and blue cheese can be strong if you are not a fan. I would suggest a more traditional garden type salad. No fruits, no nuts, no strong cheese and no fruity or specialty dressings. I would actually not dress the salad and offer a couple different dressings to choose from... probably Ranch and an Italian or Thousand Island. For the salad, I would do simple greens (nothing too exotic), maybe some green onion, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and croutons.. if you want to be daring add a hard boiled egg or two and some bacon or a cucumber. Keep it simple; sounds like they are not exotic salad lovers. It is nice of them to eat it without complaint. I can usually tell what people don't like by how much of it is eaten or if people go back for seconds. My SIL came right out and told me she doesn't like fruit (or fruity dressings) in her salad. I'm glad to know although it doesn't keep me from making salads with fruits. Although salad is my favorite food, I actually think most Thanksgiving meals don't really need a green salad. I find it's often passed over on Thanksgiving with all the other foods. Are you serving other green veggies, cranberry sauce? You can count the cranberries as a fruit salad and as long as you have at least one green veggie and filling meal you should be covered.

I'd still do seating on two sides - as I mentioned b/f, 4 seats - like ducks sitting all in a row in a shooting gallery - are not very conducive to friendly meals together. I strongly recommend reducing the island to allow seating on two sides. It's not like your island is so small that you cannot afford the space. However, it's your Kitchen and you're the one who has to live with it, not me, so if you're OK with it, then go ahead. Whatever you do with the seating, add a prep sink to the island to make it useful as something more than a place to eat. BTW...the last layout you posted has a much better layout than what you started with in the first post. Any idea why the layout in the first post is more than 2' off? If it's the "Kitchen Guy's" measurements, talk to him ASAP about the measurements! Also, perimeters are 25.5" deep each, not 24". Base cabinet boxes are 24" deep - that's without the doors/drawer fronts and without counters. Given the new measurements... Assuming the island is in front of the refrigerator like in your original layout: 25.5" Sink counter + 48" aisle b/w sink counter and island + 100"W island + 48" aisle b/w island and refrigerator + 33.5"D refrigerator + 1" air clearance behind the refrigerator (required per installation instructions) =============================== 256"--> 6" more than what you have If you go with this one -- I recommend reducing the island by at least 6" to provide a 48" aisle b/w the refrigerator and the island. Since it's a busy aisle, consider more for a wider aisle so it's not a bottleneck when the refrigerator is open. If the refrigerator is completely offset from the island: 25.5" Sink counter + 48" aisle b/w sink counter and island + 100"W island + 51" aisle b/w island & ref wall counters (3" for a bit more diagonal room b/w island & ref) + 25.5.5"D refrigerator wall counters =============================== 250" So - you need to completely offset the refrigerator. .

Bought a TV for DD at Target last night. It was the same TV/same price as one we had been looking into at Best Buy. However, at Target, got a $30 gift card free. I did the same with a Touch Kindle for DH.. Same price as everywhere, but with a $10 gift card.

I was also at Target last night and they had their fleece jackets for $5! I bought several in various colors. They are just your normal fleece jacket with pockets. I talked with the sales clerk and she said they marketed to many of them, thus the sale. I went online and they get good reviews except some complain of a smell. Mine smell fine! At $5 it's a steal!

bichonlover - Really! Where are the jackets located. Are they for Women only? I can go back tomorrow. Already have a bag full of brand new looking used socks that were my fathers, and a couple of his jackets to take to church. I can swing by and pick up some jackets before heading down to Munsey.

Yes, they were in the womens section. I didn't see any for men but I didn't look that closely. You go to Munsey? I go to Grace Fellowship and we are collecting coats also. Small world!

When I was there they were near that area and there was a sign that said 70% off. Hope they still have some! You know how fast things go at Target when they mark them down! They had at least 10 different colors to choose from! Got one for each of my girls, 2 for me, and 2 for friends. Got my mom one, too! $35 for 7!

I'm back. Got to Target and saw a mob around a shelf display on the main isle ( I was thinking the jackets would be on a sales rack on the back wall)and jackets were being thrown into carts left and right. lol

I picked up the first large that I could find and immediately noticed how small they ran. I then gathered up mostly the black in XL and L. Got two XL in green. Those were the only two colors in L and XL. I got a reddish/pink jacket in M for my daughter that wears a medium. My other daughter would need a large.

I got 10 jackets all together. Once home, I tried on the XL and could barely squeeze in. My older daughter is rather blessed up top, so I am afraid that even the XL will not zip up to the top and that the M will be too small for younger daughter. Oh well, at least the L and XL will fit someone in need. Thanks again!
