I'm dreaming of a 'coup d'état' in my garden... a Rose walk!
Comments (36)Hi guys, :o) it's time to update this thread! The work is still in progress, a few Roses are still waiting to be planted, and some architectural detail need to be completed, but in a few weeks all should be done! Here's some pictures to share with you the work in progress :o) I've started by the end of April, planting the very first roses, even if nothing of the hardscaping work was done :oP There where still the giant cardoons that I was going to uproot by the end of June. (The blooming rose to the right is the Wichurana Rambler 'Paul Noel') I keep on planting all the summer long, step by step, working very early in the morning (it was SO hot!!), and by the end of August nearly all the Roses have been in place - A bad picture prom the North side of the (shapeless) walk By the end of September, with a more pleasant, fresh air and a couple of showers, we have started with the path, steps and a few other architectural details... A picture with my father in the background, to better show proportions. The path seems to be larger than necessary, but this is to allow the roses and perennials to spread out in the path. By October, two big Moroccan jars have been placed making a striking focal point at each end, The North side (I've planted a Rosemary hedge behind it to hide the back structures and to make a "firm" background) And the South side... In November, some Roses where in flower (Gloire de Rosomanes and 'Souvenir de la Malmaison' in the foreground, with green flowered Chrysanthemums (...how many weeds to pull out...!) The last picture I've take, a few days ago. Note the chipped leaves of the Olive Tree to cover the path, and the steps leading to the small vegetable garden. It looks so bare now...I'm waiting for Spring to come!! Ciao! :o) Maurizio...See MoreDream Kitchen from Home depot 2009 dream book
Comments (12)Thomasville cabinets are the same as Diamond cabinets. In Diamond, the door on the cover is called Anden and the color is Portabello (that's the Diamond line that's sold at cabinet dealer stores, not the Diamond line that Lowes carries. Not sure of the name in the Diamond line at Lowes, but they would have it.) Thomasville, Diamond, Kemper...all Masterbrand cabinets. (I work at a kitchen store - we sell Diamond) :)...See MoreForget the 'the dream kitchen', here is my dream house.....
Comments (10)No, the deleted thread was just under 2/3s full, but perhaps the mod felt the concern raised about spamming justified pulling it. Of course, since the bickering got out of line, that may also have factored into its deletion, but I've seen other disputes that were allowed to stay active and let the community make its own assessment. If you check the reg dates of several of the outraged posters there seems to be more than mere coincidence at work. One of the same posters asked a supposedly innocent kitchen question on another thread and forgot which name they had used to originally post. They later replied under another name, again one used by the accused spammer, and made it quite obvious to those familiar with both threads that the accusation on the deleted one was on target. I don't know if I was the last to post on the deleted thread, but I suggested that in the future once a spamming accusation is deemed warranted, we simply cease to respond as a few good GWers well versed and knowledgeable in the operations of internet marketing pointed out that one way the spammers can benefit is by the number of posts generated to a thread that calls attention to the spam product, not just by the number of hits they may drive from the curious who look at the blog or internet vendor. Besides I really dislike the utterly stupid change in tone that the accusers interjected in to the GW community. While we may have some with a strong sarcastic flair that might make the more sensitive types cringe a bit, their pointed wit is often well placed. I have a lower threshold for the type of silliness we were subjected to by the spammers. Nonetheless (N-o-n-etheless) earlier on that thread I noted that the antonym to "all" had disappeared from someone's post as the same word had disappeared from my posts in a different forum. I read another thread this morning and saw the same word was missing in yet another poster's response from 8/16/11 so this was not a new problem just occurring yesterday. Anyone have any ideas whether this is just a GW gnome issue confined to the GW site or whether it could affect posters?...See MoreI'm thankful for...a finished kitchen!!!!
Comments (76)Gwentm - thanks so much! We put several of the pocket doors with glass inserts throughout the house during the remodel/addition, and they were all from Lemieux. We compared doors from several companies and felt that they had the most competitive prices of all we looked at. We're happy with the doors, although not the installation! Our contractor installed them incorrectly, so now we have scratches in about 3 places on every door where they rub sliding into the wall, so will have to be re-installed and repainted - argghhhh! But then I shouldn't be surprised, since the quality of his work took a nosedive toward the end, that is, when he even bothered to show up! :) Good luck - hope you find the door you are looking for!
