Hello,
I like the layout; that's what I had in my previous house.

I do have some questions:
- do you cook a lot?
- stir-fry/deep-fry at all?
- how many cooks in the house?
- how often do you use the microwave?
- where would you prep food: on the island or between the sink and range?
- Where would the trash go?

- I ask this because if you're an average to above average cook, you should get a real vent hood that vents out instead of the MW one.
- Then you could move the MW to the island OR you could flip the range w/ the sink, moving the sink away from the fridge a bit to put the MW on the wall next to fridge. This allows 2 people to "cook" at the same time. Example: I got so annoyed when DH needed to melt the butter in MW while I was trying to cook on the stove at the same time.

- Because the layout you have designed is very symmetrical, you don't have a long run of counter-space. So where would you prep food?
Even though I had a LARGE island, I used to use the space to the Left of the sink (42") to do all my prepping, since my draining rack was to the Right of the sink. It was easy to just sweep all the veggie cut-up/raw juices, etc into the sink/disposal, w/out have to carry it from the island.

I'm sorry there is an island in the layout with measurments but not in the picture I posted. Here is another one with the island but it's cut off sorry. Yes I cook and so does my DH and yes we do run into each other. I do not like the MW either but we bought it to save much needed space. Kitchen is 9'6 x 16 and adjoins family room. I also have another layout that gives me a bigger pantry but may cramp the table but this one leaves room for a bigger sink. here the pictures . I finally figured out how to resize these sorry abot the first photos. Thanks again for any input.

Is this your only eating area? If so, I can understand keeping the table, but if you have a dining room, I would ditch the table and make a larger island with seating, maybe do a curved overhang. Then you could also fit in a narrow pantry along the wall where you have the table now.

Yes I do have a dining room but because of physical limitations I can not sit at an island. We would really like to keep the table because we do sit at it for dinner DH,myself and DS we often have a friend for dinner who lives alone and anymore than that we move into dinning room. I was also thinking of putting the table in the middle of room and eliminating island and putting a pantry/buffet along the wall where table is. I think it would really open things up but I don't know how useful the counter would be.
