I dont see where the chairs would go on the island?

I plan on having a lip at the end of the island to sit two stools that can be pulled under when not used. These are my contractors drawings so I don’t know how to edit them myself.

So, your barstools are at the skinny end of your island? How much clearance do you have to your dining table? I would place your fridge on the right side of your sink to create the correct flow. Are your aisles at least 42" everywhere? I have 48" and I would not go any smaller unless you have only 2-3 people in your family. How many people usually cook?

Put your under counter fridge (on your plan) where your current full size fridge is, this way it's close to your drink center. Put your microwave at the island, close to the fridge.

I’m the only cook with 4 of us total. The two aisles along the island at the smallest would be 36” if we go with a 36” island. This is why the beverage station is narrow at 12”. We can decrease island width but stools won’t fit as well, I think? The dining table isn’t fit to size yet as I haven’t purchased it but i don’t believe we can make the island any longer as it won’t give us enough space for the dining table. We want to fit 6 chairs there.

Agree -- right now, you have a large kitchen, but the range feels crowded. Move the fridge closer to the other end.

36" will be very tight for two stools -- you usually need 24" minimum per seat to have elbow room. If you just want a friend to perch while you cook, perfect...

With 4 people, I would eliminate the cabinets on the beverage wall and increase your aisles to 48", add all the seating on the long side of your island. I had 36" in my previous kitchen, it's SO tight!!

Hmm so refrigerator to the right of the dishwasher? Not a fan of a microwave at the island due to having to bend down to use it. Thanks for noting on the narrowness of the aisles. I can decease the width of island and forego the chairs. If I remove the beverage area, that wall still has to stay. The wall also comes out 3 ft where the full height pantry is. I can’t remove that.

This might be a bad idea but what if I created a small T shape near the range side of the island for 2 chairs across from each other? There is 4.5 ft of island before the beverage wall begins. Like the below? Or would I be crowding my kitchen...

You have a very similar kitchen layout to mine except I don’t have another wall on the side of the island so that is where my stools are and my fridge area angles out. That said, it works fine. Yes the 42” between island and range can get a little tight if both my husband and I are cooking but mainly it’s just me so it’s fine. I have my dishwasher to left of sink and my garbage pullout to right of sink which works well for me. My microwave drawer is in the island on the end (in front of range). I thought I would give you a picture so you can see how it looks in real life.

Is that table your main table for everyday meals? Your clearances there look very tight if you're going to have 4 people eating there, and need a walkway to the door too.

Beautiful kitchen K R! yes it’s pretty similar and glad to hear that layout works for you. I only wish I had room for those chairs.

Chicagoans- almost wish you didn’t tell me to look at microwave drawers. They look great but my appliance budget is crying lol! That is my main table and need to fit 6. I don’t need walk way to the door typically. There is another set of bigger double doors in the next room/living room. This door will be mainly to let light in, I didn’t want to remove them for cost reasons.
