Me! We started right after the 4th of July weekend. It was a complete gut of a smallish space, bring old electrical and plumbing to code. We just got our cabinets delivered today. Joy, joy, joy! They are so gorgeous that I keep going to look at them. Tomorrow should be (knock on wood) cabinet installation. I finally feel like things are pulling together.

Me too! I started 6/28. I am doing a major remodel which included removing 2 walls and relaying the entire kitchen footprint. We just finished the structural, electrical and plumbing. Drywall starts today. I am still about 2 weeks out from cabinet bases coming in. We are targeting an end of September completion.

Started building new cabinet "innards" in the garage in June. Have now demo'ed and doing electrical plus stripping old wood. We hope to have the new cabinet insides installed within the next two weeks, and then the tile floor. Then comes a long period when the frames/doors will constructed by hand, stained and finished (or refinished, where the old gumwood will be used). It is a very labor intensive and detail intensive project even though the scope is modest -- moderate size kitchen, no footprint changes.

This is mostly a DIY -- we are contracting all the tile work but pretty much everything else -- we're doing. I will be happy (and surprised) if we finish by the end of the year.

We started May 27th this year and the cabinets have just arrived today! With two supporting walls removed plus a third wall removed to convert 4 rooms into one Kitchen/family room we knew it was going to take some time. We're extremely pleased with our GC even if he underestimates how long some jobs will take. But he's a perfectionist and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Don't hate me. We started demo mid-June and everything was complete by July 4. But we didn't move any walls, one minor plumbing change only, and kept our old appliances. The footprint was changed only very slightly. It was new cabs, paint, new floor, new sink and countertops, one new light fixture, one moved outlet, one moved phone jack.

Does starting to talk to contractors to get estimates count? Of course, we've now seen 6 contractors and have only received one estimate at this point. What's wrong with us?

We started May 13 (not that I am counting!), but we took down two supporting walls and built up and out a bit... Cabinets should be delivered 1st week in Sept, then we will have flooring and countertops. Haven't thought about ordering appliances yet, but I guess I should! (I have them narrowed down at least).

We started July 15th, took down a wall, reconfigured the kitchen and opened the space. (small house though)...we have cabinets save a few that need repair, plumbing, counters, window coverings and paint. The lighting and backsplash went in today. We do not have floors yet though, problem after problem there.

That would be me too, except it was July of 09. We will be moving back in next month - hopefully. We still love our GC as he is "family" and it has all worked out. We just wound up doing more than we expected which I think many remodelers do. They do don't they, please say they do..... lol. We will definately be eating "in" for quite some time. Patience has been the rule of thumb on both sides which has been good. I hope he thinks that way as well!

Started: mid-June.

Project: Gut existing kit and DR, move a wall over 2 ft.

Finished: All cabinets and wood flooring installed. Recessed lighting in. Kitchen painted; DR painted above chair rail. Sound system completed. Refrig and DW installed.

In process: Just chose granite slab today. New sliding glass door being installed tomorrow; in DR, wainscoting below chair rail will be primed and painted. Remaining appliances should be here by next week.

Need a clue: Backsplash is a mystery and I still need to order pendants for over the island!

What else we are doing: Wood floor for the rest of the first floor installed (LR, foyer, powder room and office) along with new paint and baseboards. Total redecorating of office and powder room.

Yes, it is a 1978 special that needed a lot of TLC!

Doing the rest of our first floor (LR, Hall, powder room and laundry room) floors is our phase II which starts soon after our other rooms are finished.

wow, ok now I just feel impatient. My GC said 5 weeks, which would have been the end of July. However, he would not start demo until the cabinets were within 1 week of delivery. That planning worked out well. I also had the flooring, appliances, lighting all here at the house days before needed as the plan was laid out.

He was here pretty consistantly for 3 weeks and then started just not appearing. Week 5 they did not come at all (we were on vacation, but they were going to "finish" while we were gone) Then i had 1 guy here for about 6 days straight and he did all the molding, hung doors, etc. Electrician came for 2 days and did all the lights/appliances, except the undercabinet lighting.

I think it is the list of things left, in addition to the list of things done that they have to redo that is just driving me bonkers. that and the fact that no one has been here for days. If it was 1 or 2 big projects (like put in pantry shelves) then I could be calmer - maybe?
I would love to be in Jeff's position, a slow, steady, but quality job.
Maybe he will actually show up tomorrow as promised on the phone today. :) I feel like Annie - the sun will come out tomorrow!

Kellykath - nothing wrong with you, but it does take time! I have found the fall is a hard time especially because people get it in their heads they are going to take on a project to be ready for the holidays.

We were actually late ordering our cabinets and he planned to be done before they arrived. He was even sourcing someone else to install the cabinets. However, he was wrong. Our new windows still haven't arrived yet! Anyway he's started another kitchen remodel so now he's got two on the go. As we told him, were really not worried, we'd like it done but we want him to do it so we'll take it slower if necessary.

And seeing as people like pictures, here's our floor!
