i got some rugs at ballard and was happy with them!

Thanks for the suggestion. They have some very pretty things and I have bookmarked the site for future use (headboard, side tables, dining area rug), but unfortunately I didn't really see any runners.

I could do a larger rug, but I think it would have to be an 8x10 and as the room is only 10 x 12, it kind of defeats the purpose of me re-finishing the wood floors.

Anyone else? PLEASE? :)

I have also checked Lowes and Home Depot.

I don't want to spend a fortune, but I have to have something down.

What else can I use to keep the bed from sliding on the wood? If I can solve that problem, the size of the rugs wouldn't be as important because they wouldn't need to go under any of the legs.

I'll admit I'm a bit confused. Do you want to put the legs of the bed on the runners to keep it from moving? Or do you want the runners to provide a warm spot for your feet when you get out of bed? Or do you want the runners to help decorate the room?

If the main problem is the bed moving, there are pads for furniture legs made out of rubber or vinyl that will protect the floor and keep the furniture from moving at a slight bump.

We have a runner at the side of the bed. I love it! I ordered mine from rugsusa.com

It's also a braided runner. The back of the house has braided rugs, the front of the house has Persian.

All of the above. Exept I didn't realize that there were rubber or vinyl pads. We have felt on the bed now.

I will look into the rubber/vinyl. These ones won't wear on the floor?

Now that I know that it is possible to keep my furniture from moving without necessarily having a rug underneath (can you tell I have lived in a carpeted home my entire life?), I just need to pick out rugs. I was hoping for solid colors, but I was wondering if this Cindy Crawford one looks ok?

I would get the vanilla color (looks to me to be white on white). I need one for each side of the bed and another for the foot. Do you think this goes with my bedspread linked above?

I had the same problem with my sofa and loveseat sliding because I was using the felt protectors on the legs.

I purchased a non-slide floor protector that actually nails into the wooden leg. It has a piece of rubber on the outer edge that will not allow you furniture to slide.
I don't remember the name of it, but I think I have an extra one somewhere and the package it came in. I will look for it and give you the brand name later. I did order it on-line. It is the same thing that most furniture stores use.

sorry i wasn't clearer...i ordered rugs from ballard, including runners! i ordered 8'x 2 1/2' runners...don't know if they had any that were only 6' long although i do remember that they did have different sizes depending on the rug (i needed/wanted 8'x30")

If you want solid, why not go to a carpet store and have rug cut to the size you want and bound? I don't think it costs very much, and you might even be able to buy an inexpensive remnant and have it cut and bound to your dimensions. You'd get exactly what you want.

I guess I am thinking that a cut piece of carpet is different than a rug? I guess I am thinking that solid color runners would be softer than just plain 'ol carpet. Carpet looks like carpet. I dunno if that makes sense.

I ended up ordering the Cindy Crawford ones in vanilla, which is off white diamonds on off white rug. So I think the pattern will be pretty subtle. I'll probably know in a week or two.

Can I use Scotchguard or a similar product on my new rugs? I just bought an 8x10 area rug from HomeGoods for the living room also. My main concern for stains would be from the dog. We do always keep Nature's Miracle handy.
