Bianco Antico granite is in, 3 issues...
Comments (26)I am a fabricator. I don't believe any of the things you are concerned about are real issues. Many natural stones have fissures. It's VERY common to notice features in your installed countertops that you didn't see in the slab when you picked it. (This even happened to me and I look at stone every day.) The gap in the back is very acceptable assuming it'll be covered by splash. The sink cutout variation you see is very likely the sink, not the cutout. Most shops today have CNC's that make cutouts that are accurate to very small fractions of an inch. Overall it sounds like you have really nice new counters that you should enjoy. FYI Bianco Antico is a very chippy stone that takes extra fabricator skill and effort to finish well. Sounds like you had a good fabricator....See MoreIvory Travertine Backsplash with Bianco Antico Granite?
Comments (7)Still don't have pictures to upload (soon, I hope), but we have settled on a porcelain tile that has a stone look--Edimax - Materia Forte in Basaltica. It's got grey tones, which look better with our granite than brown tones. We plan to use 4 x 4 tiles and do random accents of oil rubbed bronze 4 x 4 tiles, which will match our cabinet pulls and bring out the copper in the granite. This satisfies my DH, who wanted a more "natural" look than ceramic tile, but will also be very maintenance friendly. I really appreciate your feedback on the travertine. I was ready to give in and use it, but your comments about the true purpose of a backsplash really gave me pause, and a better compromise was reached. Thanks again. I hope to figure out and post preliminary pictures sometime next week, although the backsplash and finish electrical is not done. Are pictures of your kitchen posted? Would love to see it, too....See MoreEdge finish for Bianco Antico granite?
Comments (1)1/8 will give it a more contemporary/modern appearance. 1/4 is more rounded in appearance making it appear more classic and traditional. If it has a large amount of mica, the 1/8 may be best. The last thing you want is for the mica to crumble off. No sealant on this planet will keep that from happening. I hope this helps....See MoreWhat cabinet color to match Bianco Antico Granite?
Comments (4)When you're talking those subtle color variations, it's really better to get a designer in person to help you look at things. There's only so much someone can do looking at colors on a computer screen, and your photo looks a little foggy here on my end. If you can find someone who has a digital color measuring tool, they can pull out several options for you from the granite and backsplash that you already have. Going with a more saturated color on your cabinetry is also an option....See Moreleela4
