2 possibilities.....if the pipe coming out of the wall is plastic...looks like ABS plastic...you could cut it off to shorten it and then it could line up. The piece attached to the end of this piece is called a desanko or trap adapter. It is glued on and a new one will be needed. You should get a another ABS rather desanko rather than one made of PVC and then use ABS cement. Or if you get a white one (PVC) you will need a special glue to attach PVC to ABS. When cutting cut it a touch longer than you think you need and do a trial fit. If it's still too long cut a little more off. The point is you don't want to cut too much off on the first cut because then you will have to get a new, longer trap. A second option is to get a flexible tail piece...that is the piece that goes from the sink basked to the trap. But I'm not sure that a flexible tail piece will bend enough to make the connection that you show.

I can't save your screen shot (?), so I did a quick estimation of the kitchen space, using as much of the existing layout as possible. I put the fridge near the dining nook, but that wall could be flipped, with the fridge next to the DR. That would keep the clean-up area completely separate from the prep/cooking areas, but the DW door would open partially against the end of the peninsula: Everything on the clean-up wall flipped: The black arrow is for corner storage that's accessed from the back of the cabinet. Or it could be accessed from the FR side, and since you have a table nearby, the peninsula could be extended over a run of cabinets, to increase storage and make up for the lost pantry and hanging cabs. I gave you a KW mixer. :) Back with one more--if the door to the formal DR could be moved to the hallway, the range wall could be extended, and a wide island with prep sink would work. Except for storage in the middle, drawers in the second run of cabinets in the island would have easy access from the ends. Optional upper cabs beside of range hood. (Contingent on the hood being vented as in the current kitchen.) If anyone else wants to borrow this plan to experiment, please feel free.

I really appreciate the input here. I think no matter what the location of the septic we will hold off on making an offer. If the property is still available after we exhaust the option of sending a letter to all empty available land that fits our criteria to see if they want to sell we may revisit this. However, I couldn't help myself to with the challenge of making it more efficient, but still improve so that the areas we spend more time in take advantage of the view and created the below. Yes the master bath isn't efficient as I didn't reuse, but as efficient as it can get without needing to go too far towards the back and the septic. The kitchen reuses the old master plumbing and I think any re-routing could be done in cabinets there. The original master location has the best views which would be wasted on us. I only spend time after dark in the master. The original kitchen and dining has the 2nd best views, however since it has a vaulted ceiling it makes more sense as a living/great/family room or whatever you'd call it. Yes tc_kelleygirl I was just wanting in general input too if it would make sense to others in case we ever would have to sell in the future. Well if we needed a coat closet for guests its under the stairs, near the front door, however we have never needed one. For our own coats they go in the mudroom in our current house. The kitchen/dining is still a bit tight. The existing living room is just too tight. You can't have a proper entry and put furniture there at all. If you separate the entry there is 8 feet to the fireplace. I'm not really sure what that space could be used for other than a couple of chairs facing the Fireplace. Just too tight.

A dimensioned drawing of the space and relevant surrounding spaces would be helpful for layout suggestion. If I'm interpreting this picture correctly, the camera is in the livingroom and the eating area is either by the windows or to the left ... If it's by the windows, you'll want an opening in the counter to that side, but it's hard to say what would work best without dimensions and room usage. Things I would do regardless? Get rid of those arched openings ... I'm guessing that is a load bearing beam running below them, so maybe just close them in. No tiled counter ... get something smooth surfaced, whether that's stone, solid surface, wood, steel, concrete, even formica ... anything with no more grout lines to deal with. Two toer counter is not a modern look, if that's what you want ... you can still have seating there without going up to bar height. There's a lot of visual clutter ... figure out what needs to be on the counter and put everything else away. I know the bowls and cookie sheet are drying, but what is the teal thing by the wine? What's the thing in front of it (white cylinder with red thing sticking out the top)? Is that a blender in that corner, too? Do all of those need to stay out? What's all the stuff on top of the coffee machine? Is that the best way to store them? What's the conical black thing by the microwave? Can the cleaner bottles go under the sink or somewhere similar? Similarly, does the stuff to the left have homes? Is there a closet the vacuum can tuck into? Are the bags being put away? I see a lot of space in the open cabinets ... is the space not working for you? What would work better? More drawers? Different shelf spacing? Different widths?
