Please help suggest a shower curtain to go with these pictures...

and this color of towels?

It's for my 2 daughter's bathroom...a 13 year old and an 8 year old. I was thinking of some kind of striped shower curtain but I don't know. I like the brighter colors like apple green, turquoise (I know it needs to have this color to match the towels, right?), hot pink, etc. but I don't know if there's any striped shower curtains with these colors.

I really could use all of your help!! Thanks so much!!!

I never got my planned shower doors because I am so happy with the curtain! No glass to clean! I have a cloth shower liner, with a decorative cloth curtain that covers it. Single rod - I used to have double hooks, but after fighting with them, I just put in single rings and hung them both from the same rod. Maybe the two pieces of fabric keep them from blowing but I have no problem with it. I have hardwood floors in my bath, so am careful to not let the curtain fall outside the curb, but it's never been a problem. If I had kids using the shower, I probably wouldn't want to count on them keeping the curtain in place. Sorry no pics. I have always made my shower curtains, but have never taken a photo of them...never occurred to me, actually! But here's how I approach it. I want the curtain to hang higher than the standard, but not so high that there isn't room at the top for damp air to escape. That's important! Most often, I try to line the top up with something else in the room, like the top of the vanity mirror, or the top of a window frame. Then I cut it long enough to clear the floor by a few inches...usually lining the bottom up with the top of the baseboard or baseboard tile. I don't want it to brush the floor...cleaning issues, and ease of pushing it back and forth. So I usually take away the existing rod and replace it at the higher level with 3/4" copper pipe. I hang the pipe with a pair of standard flanges from the hardware store that I have spray-painted with metallic bronze. I make the pipe fit by adding the short copper connectors that are meant to connect two lengths, one to each end...they give the pipe just enough more dimension to fit well into the flanges. Cheap, doesn't do that horrid blackening thing that the usual metal ones do, and looks fabulous as it darkens. For the curtain, I most often use drapery material. I buy two lengths of fabric, split one down the middle, switch the halves right to left, and match the pattern along the selvage edges. The point of this is to center the pattern on the curtain, and move the seams to the sides...looks and hangs much better. I cut the width to about 100", which is more generous than the standard flat 72" without going too far in the pouffy direction. I make a double 3 or 4 inch hem at the top (adding a strip of some form of stiffener, if the fabric is light and drapey), and then bang in grommets at the usual intervals. In most cases, that means about 18 grommets instead of the standard 12, which also means buying two sets of rings. I put them in at least an inch from the top, so that there's no gap between the top of the curtain and the rod. I'm partial to the rings with the little roller balls on top, but anything you like works. I make a deep hem (5"), and I put the side hems and the bottom hem in by hand. This is overkill and not necessary, but I think it makes it hang much better. (I justify the extra work by reminding myself that it is the curtain I see and handle the most!) These dimensions mean that the cut length is 12" longer than the finished length. I don't line the curtain; I use an extra-long fabric liner inside it on the same rings, which I have found most often at Bed Bath & Beyond. And that's more than you wanted to know about one way of making long shower curtains!

Oh, well, I totally understand that. In that case, I would definitely get a ready made and not take on project of making something now. You can always do that later and not waste much $$ if you stay in the same color family. I like the idea someone mentioned above of a toile in a softer gray than the black. Or maybe in the short term just a pretty, fresh new white one and paint the walls a soft gray like mentioned above. Good luck with the bathroom and the baby! Thank you all!! I think these curtains make me five shades of happy. : ) I'm glad you like them and think that they work well with our couch, lamp, and artwork. I can hardly wait to get some beadboard wallpaper up and fix that silly ceiling (air mail!). DH is planning to vault the ceiling and then we want to plank it. Soon... I don't know my3dogs, you have quite the prowess with bargain hunting yourself. I remember some pretty neat lamps and rugs you've found. And those island legs from a bed frame were quite clever. ; ) Aw, you sure can, Ida Claire. Do you have any links to your old house? I'd love to see it. I remember seeing the kitchen recently and I'd enjoy seeing more. Cottage style is my favorite. I have to be careful because I can swing more formal and traditional, but it's not what makes me the most comfortable. Boopadoo, maybe someone else can do the remembering for you. I don't recall seeing that dining room, but sure would like to see it. Just to confirm: Does the green rug really need to leave? It's ok if it does, I can use it elsewhere. But, I want to be absolutely sure before I go about buying another one.

Personally, I would get a striped one, like the cabanas and umbrella in the pics.
This one would be cute - use the zoom feature and you'll se that it has your towel color in it:

I'd get a combo of solid lime green and hot pink. That way they each could claim one of the colors and girls love those colors. Turquoise is also one to be considered.

The walls are white. The cabinets are a light cherry and vanity top is white. Fixtures brushed nickel.

Do any of these options jump out at you as being right or any totally wrong? I have no idea how to pull this all together, but the shower curtain is a very important part 'cause it's the first thing you see when the bathroom door is open. Ugh, decorating is so hard!!!

yayagal, What a great idea! I think I'll get some lime colored towels for 1 daughter and pink towels for the other one. I can take back the aqua blue ones, as they are new.

Joanie b... Thanks for finding those for me. I'm glad to see they had the aqua stripe...I just love the aqua color of these towels, but I'm afraid they probably aren't going to work.

I like option 3 as well - it's easy on the eyes & blends in, but has the balance of bright enough colors that I would think should appeal to the girls.

Looks like a fun bathroom!

So far, everyone is liking option 3. If I go with 3, what color towels? Keep the aqua blue & add green towels or go with pink & green towels in pic 2? There isn't any blue in the shower curtain, so I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't use it...or is it alright? I chose the aqua blue towels at first because my oldest daughter is 13 & is alittle sick of pink by now! But she'll survive! LOL!! Thanks everyone! Almost there!!

Why not find a variety of towels that match the colors in the pic & curtain, & then let each girl chose her favorite? That way they've had a hand in the decorating choice, & you will know that no matter what they choose, it will work.

I like Moonkat's suggestion of a variety of solid towels. The girls can have their own little color fest. I'd like to see that apple green used in a bath rug. You can put little punches of color on the vanity with starfish shaped soaps in a shell container. I like clear tall cylinders filled with sand and sea shells nesting in it for a seaside touch. It's going to look super!!!

I think that each girl should have "her" color. Maybe green for the teenager and pink for your little one. Just easier to keep track of, IMO.

Depending on the size of the bathroom, the bright colors might stand out better if pure white towels were used for both girls. Less busy.

I like option 3 as well. And just to let you know that I love the JCPenney towels, they have a range of colors and are great towels.
