Thanks for the quick feedback... enduring, I checked the scale, and I believe it is correct. The shower wall is half the length of the window wall... I realize my scan didn't copy that well, especially since I needed to rotate it, but I think it is accurate. badgergal, I had already begun to wonder if the sinks were too big. I forgot to measure what we had before Habitat carted it off this week, but I'm sure they were smaller than 19 inches. I think 17 would be fine, and I'm glad to see your photos of the 15 (love the granite!) Karenseb, what a great idea! I'm not quite sure why I rejected that position at the beginning of the project. I had looked at plenty of photos of the corner tub, but thought it would take up too much space, and feel too much like the old whirlpool tub that we just yanked out. I played around with my full sized templates, and kind of like it. Plus, it means we won't have to change out the window (yay!) Here's a photo of what that looks like, as well as an updated floor plan: This design does raise a couple of other questions, though... 1. I had planned for a panel of glass for one of the shower walls - the one on the same wall as where I had the tub originally. It would have meant there was a clear line of sight all along that wall - no cabinets, etc. I can still put that glass in, but now it would be next to the cabinet, and I think I lose the "cool" effect... plus I'm wondering if it would feel weird to shower and have someone standing at that sink at the same time... 2. I had planned to tile the entire blank wall that the tub was originally on, with a couple of recessed niches with accent tiles running vertically from floor to ceiling. Obviously that won't work now, given that the wall is now broken up, so I'll need to rethink through what the tile accent "wow" factor will be. The main focus when entering the bathroom from the bedroom will be that wall/window corner. Any ideas? Thanks again! I'll let the pros chime in, but I'm surprised no one mentioned the clearances around the table that you pointed out. There are a number of pinch points on the end and it will make it seem cramped and crowded. (As drawn, there is only 16 12 to 17 inches of clearance after accounting for a counter overhang) Perhaps you could move the bar to the other end? Or shift the table down, inverting the side with the leaf and leaving the larger aisle to the top of the diagram. You could also put down a small coffee table or something in front of the bench and make it a cozy reading nook. If you have not done so already, put some mockups using cardboard boxes or at least tape marks on the floor, so you can see if you are satisfied with this placement. I would also steal two more inches between the sink and the island, making this a true 42" wide. I see you have 42" from counter to counter, minus whatever edge treatment you select, you could end up with less than 40". That starts to begin to feel tight. If I where you I would just pay the $85.00 service call. Why risk damaging the door or the oven carcass trying to get the door back on. Just be sure to watch the installers put the door on just in case you ever have to remove the doors again. I know with some models/manufacturers you can only slide the door over the hinges so far (they usually have a recomended distance in the installation manual) then fully open the door and lock the hinge with the clip. Every model/manufacturer is different though

doc5md, I hear what you are saying about the aisles. I was rather disappointed to see that. I think this KD was telling me what I wanted to hear rather than giving good design (according to all I have read on GW). I think the large island is very visually appealing, if our floor plan accommodates it. It is where I envision my family gathering and my kids doing their school projects. I want it to accommodate five people because I don't want a kitchen table in that location since we have a dining room table adjacent to the space and can use it when we need a regular table. I am not necessarily restricting us from other designs. However, we currently have a peninsula and I feel trapped when I am in my kitchen when my husband or kids are around. You know, one way in and one way out. Because of our walkway to our garage entrance, we can't do a true u-shape. beenzmail, we do need seating for five. I will send you a message because I would love to see your photos. We probably will end of making the fridge counter depth. I hate spending the money since our current fridge isn't that old, but we may have to take the plunge and sacrifice something else. We will be eliminating that table because we have another one in our dining room and don't feel the need for both. bethohio3, I have a fairly good idea of what the second sink would cost because of some other work we had done in our house about six months ago. We *may* be able to swing it but having a good idea of where this current design would fall price-wise, I am not sure it would trump (I am sick of that word, aren't you?) some of the other wish list items we have. But it is a possibility. Regarding "Other than the 2nd sink, what are your qualms about this plan?"... I think the long run of cabinets may be too long (and expensive). Also, the main sink would end of being one of the first things people see when they enter the front door. Unfortunately, in our household, dishes have the tendency to pile up and I would like to keep them out of sight as much as possible. Here is the order of importance for the things you mentioned: Efficient work zones large island Sink close to refrigerator and cooktop Large kitchen Single sink course411, we can't switch the range and cleanup sink because that would put the range under the window. Lily'smom...totally agree about the island and that is what I am trying to figure out. Is it time to scrap the big island and try to find another layout?
