I think what we need to know to help is what pieces are staying, what will go? How do you use the space - how many people do you need to seat, how often is the room used? I am assuming the window is on the left side of the drawing, and the opening to other rooms is on the right side.

My first inclination would be to turn the rug so that the short end is in front of the fireplace. Run the couch at a right angle to the fireplace, on the right side as you look at the pix. Place an end table at the end away from the fireplace, and then place the loveseat at a right angle to the couch, with the end table between the pieces.

Add two great comfortable overstuffed chairs on the left end in front of the window, with a nice table between them. Or, if you play games, put a game table there with four chairs.

Place the tv to the left side of the fireplace.

On the right end, a console to the left side of the door opening, with a great mirror and lamp, the mirror to bounce the light from the window at the other end of the space.

It would appear that you could use a much more substantial coffee table.

Or, you could place couches on either side of the fireplace, with the rug turned of course, and mount a tv on the wall opposite the fireplace. I would still keep the seating by the end window.

When a room is long and skinny, I always try to 'split' it into several smaller but better-proportioned spaces. With your fireplace in the center of the long wall, that's a little tougher...

I'd probably tighten your center conversation grouping, and have a 'reading nook' in one corner and maybe a small card table or TV-viewing space in the other.

But as Les pointed out -- it's how you use (or want to use) the space that should determine how it's arranged.

We have a 26' long living room with a center chimney fireplace right in the middle. We have a conversation area around the fireplace. Then we have a piano area at one end and a desk area at the other end. At the piano end I keep a gateleg table, which can be opened up for fireside dinners.

We don't have a TV in there, but if we did, I'd consider mounting it above the fireplace. That seems to work for many people.

That's the exact size of my LR. Here is our current arrangement. I've considered putting the TV over the fireplace, but not sure I ever will. This seems to work the best most of the time.

I'd center the love seat in front of the window and center the sofa in front of the FL so you'd have an "L" shaped sitting area. Move the area rug so it's centered in front of the FP as well.
I'd move the end table to the spot between the sofa and love seat. Then I'd add a chair and ottoman to the corner the end table was in.

It would be similar to this sketch except the loveseat would be centered in front of the window.

Here's a suggestion with a conversation area/tv watching area centered around the fireplace, an easy chair in a reading area and a small game table near the far windows. And a coffee table ottoman between the sofa and loveseat.

I ask this: what do you want to look at when you are in the room. IMHO you would probaly want to look at your FPL and you TV. Both are very important features in your room. So I would put the couch facing the fireplace and away from the wall and put a sofa table behind the sofa with a lamp, if possible and some nice photos. if possible put the tv so you can see it and the FPL when you are sitting. I dont like tv's on the wall above the FPL but if you dont mind it, you can even do that. But my main idea is for you to arrange your furniture in more of a grouping similar to what MONABLAIR did. her idea is the best i have seen here as it is the best of both worlds, but move things a bit closer in to the FPL.
