How do you keep your white clothes white, or
Comments (13)Oxyclean!! Every couple of months or so, I gather all items that have tough to remove stains and white items. Fill the washer tub with cold/warm water and add clothing. Add about 4 scoops of Oxyclean. Agitate long enough to mix--then leave it overnight. My 44 yr old daughter was with me recently and brought the nastiest looking pink robe you could imagine. Her dog had drug it outside into the mud. Stains were very set. After Mom's treatment, she gasped!! Good stuff when you learn how to use it right. I prepare a lot of old linens for resale. Oxyclean gets the yellow out and yet it is safe for the most delicate linens. karen...See MoreWhere do you hang your cloth hand towels?
Comments (36)Thanks, Charliekin. My kitchen photos don't do justice to the backsplash. In real life, everyone just stops short and gapes! They're glass tiles from AlysEdwards, custom made for me in Italy. They're like stained glass, a milky white with grays and browns, no two pieces alike. I couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful to go with my Carrara counters. I think you can appreciate them better in these next pix. I over-ordered and actually have an entire unused box of them that I keep meaning to list on CraigsList or someplace. There's just no where else in the house to use them....See MoreWhere is your towel holder?
Comments (4)Try searching the Forum for this topic, there have been several threads over the last 2 months or so on this very topic. Check out the "Read Me" thread (linked below) for tips on searching. I hang dishtowels on the freezer drawer handle (I have a bottom drawer/french door refrigerator). It's close to both the Prep Sink and Cleanup Sink. Sometimes, I'll find one on the Warming Drawer handle as well. Where we do not hang them is on the oven doors (b/c they're front and center when coming in from the front door or looking in the sidelight!) and the DW door (b/c when it's opened, the towel would drag on the floor). Here are some older threads that probably won't be found when searching on the Forum itself (they probably will come up if you to a "Google" search). Comments (37)Mnerg, I hang towels on a simple long handle like Threebees, only it's a regular drawer handle that's even simpler and shorter (holds any kitchen towel folded in half lengthwise). It does NOT match my other, regular handles--but no one notices because of the towel hanging on it, and that's what I wanted to point out. The handle is the same metal as the others and has simple bent ends with no mass or detail to stick out and grab attention. BTW, I have two. One is also on my garbage pullout next to the sink. No matter how messy my hands are, it doesn't matter with a towel always there. But the other is on the inside of my island right where my hands get messy 95% of the time. When I think of the things I did right in this kitchen these little details always leap right out....See MoreRelated Professionals
