Anyone have stacked drawer organizers?
Comments (2)I used have a couple of these drawers. One has mixing bowls and my hand mixer. Another has all of my wraps (not my original plan but it works pretty good) I keep have 2 layers of the roll wraps (one for use and the other storage), 2 layers of Gallon bags, Quart bags, Pint bags. On top of the wraps - I have aluminum sheets. Then, I even have room for one box of sandwich, snack, mini bags (size of an iphone and use for iphone when I run or bike), even smaller bags and compostable bags. I use the foil sheets and zip lock bags of all sizes most of the time - wraps much less often as I use re-useable containers most of the time.... No time to take a picture but it really does work. Other set is 14 inches and I used Lee valley dividers - 3 on top of each other and put my egg slicer, and some other items like that on the smaller side, then I have pot holders, non-latex gloves, and food prep gloves on one drawer. The bottom drawer, I have 3 different types of towels and dish rags. It really does work - I know it sounds complicated.......See MoreWhat cabinet drawer organizers do you love, could do without?
Comments (43)The drawer is 20-1/2" wide inside, and the jars are just slightly over 2", so they fit with a tiny amount of wiggle room. If I push them to one side, there's less than 1/4" gap. I haven't used them yet to see how well they work. The lids are very tight- once you think they are on, you can give them another 1/4 turn, and I'm sure they will be quite tight. I actually hope they loosen a bit with use, as I don't know if my wife has the grip strength to open them. We keep our bulk spices in the freezer. We buy them from sources such as Penzey's, and try to buy a 6-12 month supply, although some things rarely get used. I make a lot of spice mixtures for different cuisines and BBQ, plus we wind up with things like 6 different varieties of salt. I made a quick list, and came up with about 80 different spices and mixtures, so it's not as crazy as it seems. Filling and labeling is going to be a project! I have surgery coming up, and will be restricted to 'light duty' for as long as two months, so this is one of many projects I've lined up for that time. I have a P-Touch labeler which is fantastic, but the labels get expensive. I want to label the jar, the lid, and a board under the jar so we know where to put them back. I might line the bottom of the drawer with 2" wood squares which I can label, but still re-arrange should the need arise....See MoreIKEA Sektion in person view
Comments (7)DH was also suspicious of the sink pull outs (at least those with the taller and wider panels), which have a lot of "flex" and looked to him like the thing our son was most likely to break. I have spoken with an ikea installer who confirms that it is the single item that bothers people the most when they test run the new kitchen after installation, because they often notice the wobbliness of them for the first time at home, having missed it in-store. I did like the smaller trash-pull outs. For us, this was the exception to the rule, however. I liked the other features very well and are planning to install sektion. I'm not sure that I understand the difference between a "real drawer" and a small pull out cabinet - but perhaps that's only because I'm looking at the endgame (it slides out and organizes things!). Do you not like the ikea in-drawer organizers? Or do you mean you don't like the drawers-within-drawer cabinets? These are a spin off of the more standard deep drawers + narrow drawer on top cabinets, which are still available....See MoreDrawer and Cabinet Organizers
Comments (3)Are you still in the design phase? If so, I used the tall Rev a Shelf pullout for utensils and knives. https://www.rev-a-shelf.com/p-513-base-cabinet-pullout-knife-utensil-base-organizer-blumotion-soft-close-sink-and-base-accessories.aspx I can see everything at a glance so there's no opening multiple drawers while prepping. Also makes it super easy when unloading the DW. I like the RAS organizers as they match the drawer boxes better than bamboo and can be custom fitted so there's no wasted space. I purchased my RAS drawer organizers from Amazon Warehouse and had the contractor cut them down for me. I combined these two RAS organizers for table knives and cutlery. Also check out the Container Store. They have many sizes of knife organizers....See Morenhbaskets
